"Trooper Joe"

Anyone who met him, would real soon know
The kind and gentle soul that was Trooper Joe
He said he rode dirt bikes, he told me so
I had hoped to ride with him, Trooper Joe

But his house I was buying, I could never know
That 2 years later I'd be reading about Trooper Joe
My mind was reeling, time was moving too slow
When I saw on TV the face of ole Trooper Joe

I didn't want to believe at first, but ya never know
So I surfed the Net and found, it was my Trooper Joe
I was inconsolable, I wish Teri could know
That I too am grieving for her Trooper Joe

How could one so cool be dragged so low
Why did the devil himself hurt our Trooper Joe
I could spend my life asking and will never know
Why a coward with malice took away Trooper Joe

To serve and protect in rain and in snow
That was the promise made by our Trooper Joe
A better officer or gentleman the world didn't know
I'm so glad to have met you back then Trooper Joe

He was a leader of men, front of the class he'd go
Brave men followed him willingly that Trooper Joe
I'd follow him too but I'm not ready to go
I hope you understand, good ole Trooper Joe

Now you're dirt biking in Heaven, don't go too slow
When my race is run we'll finish our ride Trooper Joe
We'll shift the gears and watch the horizon grow
But not yet, until we meet again my brave Trooper Joe

Take care and rest easy bro......

I met Joseph Longobardo many years ago, I was the person that bought his townhouse in Ballston Spa. I met him only twice and was UBER impressed with this young guy, Marine, MRT unit State Trooper. He rode dirt bikes as a teen and was impressed that I was a real racer. :-)

And only a few short years alter I kept seeing the news report, my brain refused to connect the dots until Joe popped thru a computer monitor and said, "ITS ME." I had NEVER forgotten the life stolen from so many. I was hurt for his family and tried ot help but they were dealing with a lot.

MANY WILL REMEMBER Trooper Joe...including me. So when on a work furlough from my downstate Verizon garage I was given a job at this Trooper barracks.. I was shocked at what happened next. Follow teh links to see my story.

RIP peace, JL, we will meet again, and ride soem heavenly dirt bikes.

Your man,
MJ

I'm doing a report on unsung heroes who don't get the recognition they deserve, your courage and dedication put you at the top of my list. I plan on being a State Trooper after I graduate and hope to be half the man you were. Thank you for your services and you will never be forgotten.

Dear Joe,

Missing you a lot at the moment for two reasons, the 6th anniversary of your death and the 11th anniversary of 9/11. That sticks in my mind the most as it symbolises when I lost contact with you because you were on active duty :(

Thank you for your friendship for the 8 years that I was privileged to know you. My life is better having known you and the wonderful person you were.

I made it to your home town 2 years ago and visited your memorial. I left flowers on behalf of myself and some of the Marines you served with in Islamabad.

Miss you and thanks for everything.

New account email, Joe, lol, so I'll begin this one by leaving my condolence on the 6th anniversary of your passing. I know it's three days late, so I apologize. The city of Amsterdam is falling apart, unfortunately, but my hopes are still high in join the boys in blue. Unfortunately, I cannot be a trooper because I'm 10 credit hours short of the 30 minimum, ntm, I have an anger issue, so I've decided to be a correctional officer. I have no clue where Teri moved to, so I can't talk to her personally :(, however, you guys are forever in my prayers. Even though we never, we're still part of the same family. I miss you, Joe.

Thinking of you everyday, big brother. Keep watching over us. I had read somewhere not to long ago that the scum who took you from us tried to escape prison again, but failed. I'm thankful for that.
