Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Trooper Joseph Anthony Longobardo

Not a day goes by that we don't think of those two fateful days, August 31st and September 3rd. And not a day goes by that we don't think of Teri, Louis and your entire family. Devastation has certainly taken its toll on the NYSP community this year. We will never forget. Rest in Peace.

Joe,

Justice was served as much as it possibly could today. The only thing better would have him to get the death penalty. Watch over you brothers and sisters in corrections. I don'y yrust him...he will try to escape again, but they are working hard to prevent that. The first judge he faced today is right. Ralph Phillips will fade into nothingess and you will remain the hero. Continue to watch over Don Baker, he is still healing from his wounds he received from the same scum who shot you.

Ralph Phillips will fade away but your memory never will.

Dear Joe,
Today justice was served! The evil-man who took you from your loved ones is finally being held accountable for his actions. Although he will never have the opportunity to see daylight outside of prison walls, it doesn't seem to be enough. There isn't any punishment harsh enough for hurt he has caused. Thank-you again for all your sacrifices you made for our country, your memory will live on for enternity, God Bless You!

Your sacrifice was the ultimate and you did your duty well. You have embodied what it means to be a Trooper!! All who have known you and wear the same uniform as you should consider themselves lucky to have you as part of thier lives!! You paid the price we all have signed up for...never be forgotten and rest in peace brother...

I did not know you Joseph, but you like my best friend Andrew Sperr, did the most heroic thing possible by losing your life in the line of duty. You died as a hero and you will never be forgotten. I pray for your family with the great loss they have suffered.

Last night at our annual candle light memories vigil, we recognized you for your dedicated service. We also read a staement from Don Baker who was shot at the same time as you by the same suspect. He is recovering nicely. This has been an especially hard year for those in law enforcement in NY, especially those working in WNY as well as the NYSP. All of you will always be remembered for your dedication to paying the ultimate sacrifice in an effort to keep the rest of safe.

Yesterdeay was one of the hardest days to watch t.v. other than hearing the news of Joe being shot, than passing away. To see the man who took a wondeful man from all his family, friends and co-workers. Joe was one of the most kindess, loving and dear friend anyone could have. The only relief I have from this horrible tradgedy is knowing the man who took our loved one away will never have the opportunity to harm another living person. Joe, my heart and prayers are with your wife, Terri, your son, Louie and the rest of your family during this holiday season. Thank-you for all the sacrifices you made for our country, God Bless!

Although i didnt know Trooper Longobardo, myself and another Trooper attended the service to honor him by driving up from Maryland. It is apparent that Trooper Longobardo touched many lives. I want to simply say to the family, friends and coworkers of Trooper Longobardo's that my thoughts and prayers continue for you. To Trooper Longobardo...continue to look down on your family and be an angle to them along with your many service members and "brothers in arms"....may God Bless you!!

Thinking of you today my Brother. Giving thanks that you were and always will be MRT. We are all thankful for having had the opportunity to know you and be part of the MRT family with you. We are most thankful for what you left with each of us - strength of character, calmness of professionalism, and the integrity of a Man of Honor. You touched every person who met you and they were better for it. Thank you Joe. Terri and Louis will always know love and will never be alone as you watch over them. But know my friend, that we will always be there for them, past, present, future MRT and the entire NYSP family. We love you and miss you - until we meet again - God Speed Longo, God Speed.

Joe...

We will miss you so much. You were a wonderful friend to Michael and me and I will never forget that. Thank you for always making us a part of your life with Teri and Louis. We will always love you. Everytime I go over the "jump" I always think of you that night when the three of us had such an awesome time. You were such a great friend to Michael, he will miss you so much. We love you Joe...

Teri and Louis,

I am so sorry for your loss. I want you both to know that I have always looked up to Joe, even before he became a Marine, a Trooper - Joe was always good to us and we'll never forget him.
