My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and fellow officers of Officer Schroeder.

While no one who wears a badge wants to be put into such a situation, you put yourself into the line of fire to protect those whom you might not have even known despite the danger. While I did not have the privilege to have known him personally, I am certain that he has found a place in heaven.

Rest in peace my friend; those of us who remain will cover your post on the thin blue line.

Officer Ryan McNeil
Medicine Lodge, KS Police Department

dear family,

my thoughts & prayers are with you!

The final inspection”

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

Everytime I hear of another cop dying my heart just drops. I am originally from Cleveland but am now a cop in San Francisco. CPD I am sorry for your loss. Rest in peace. Here 10-7E means end of watch but we all rather say the cop is still 10-8 (In service) but just in a much better place.

I am not LEO but have the greatest respect for all who serve in LE and the force is dimished by the loss of any officer.

I write purely to convey my deepest sympathies to all his family and friends. I am greatly saddened.
