Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Jonathan James "AJ" Schroeder

Jon, thank you for the many laughs you leave with us. The bright intoxicating smile, that leaves us smiling when we turn away. The friendship you gave and wanted nothing back for it. The jokes, the stories, the driveway sitting memories that no one can take away. Thank you for keeping our streets safer each night for us. Thanks Jon for just being our friend. We will miss you.

I never worked with you, I never even met you, but I still hurt because of what happened to you. I'm proud of you for the impact you made on people's lives while you were here. You won't be forgotten. God bless you, your wife and your young child.

In the simple performance of duty,
he pinned on a badge,
checked his gear with a practiced eye,
and kissed his loved ones good-bye.
In the simple performance of duty,
he reported for work,
joked with his buddies at roll call,
and made his last trip down the squad room hall.
In the simple performance of duty,
he answered the call
to help the helpless, to find the lost,
no matter the danger or how great the cost.
In the simple performance of duty,
he lay down his life,
for those in peril he tried to save,
our brave friend went to his grave.
In the simple performance of duty,
we honor his deed,
as we carry him to rest in a flag-draped casket,
long after the world has forgotten, we shall never forget.
Never judge or regret, what he did, In the simple performance of duty."

We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of a loved one in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support. As we personally know, sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. Rely heavily on family, friends, and other law enforcement. Honor your fallen loved one, for their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Dear Jon,

Although I've only been an officer for two years, it's easy to see that you embodied every characteristic that an unforgettable husband, father, and police officer should have. I can only hope that every policeman follow the example that you've set. My wife, and 18 month old daughter have you in our prayers. Like all those before you, we will never forget you.

God Bless You Jon,
Matt Berdysz

I had the honor to work with A.J. When he was on patrol at the first district. His smile was something that I will never forget. The news was a shock to hear that we have lost one of Clevelands Finest. Clevelands Finest he was and as Clevelands Finest he will always be remembered as. CPD will never be the same. You will be missed.

Rest in Peace Officer Schroeder

Police Officer's Prayer

Lord, I ask for courage
Courage to face and conquer my fears
Courage To take me where others will not go.

I ask strength
Strength of body to protect others,
And strength of spirit to lead others.

I ask for dedication
Dedication to my job, to do well,
Dedication to my community, to keep it safe.

Give me, Lord, concern for those who trust me,
And compassion for those who need me.
And please, Lord through it all,
Be at my side.

To the family of this wonderful hero. I understand the pain felt by your family as our family had the very same pain in 1968. Though my dad is missed every day life carries on and he would have wanted it no other way. I take comfort in knowing that dad loved God, his family, and helping others. So please take courage in knowing that your hero will never be forgotten by everyone who understands your pain and thanks God every day that we have men and women whom put the well being of others ahead of the fear of what could possibly happen to them. That is a true HERO. I am very sorry for the loss you have suffered and will say a prayer for all of you as I truely remember every day all our fallen hero's. As a special thought I always remember what was said to me by a special person when I lost my dad. You have a very special ANGEL now sitting on your shoulder all the time talk to him when you need to and you know in your heart the answer to your question, or just feel better with your hero was listing and in your thoughts.

May our heart felt prayers reach you from Huntington Beach California. Jan and her husband Jeff are very special people to us and though we only met Jon and his Wife Amy once in California we knew immediately that this couple were special people. We can sense the close family relationships they cherished. Jon and Amy's excitement grew stronger as they talked about being parents and having their own family someday. You just knew these two people had the hearts and soles of god's children. Keep Jon in your hearts forever...
