Thinking of my friend and hero today! Miss you real hard "Maddawg"! See you soon!!

Mike and I went to the same high school and he was a year older than me. But as long as I have known him he never has changed. He always made you feel like you were his best friend. In his high school year book he was voted most dependable. He was an honest Christian, family man and was so proud to be a State Trooper. He touched many lives in his short time on earth and his legacy will live on forever.

Rest in peace, you served well. It has been nearly two years now, but it seems like yesterday. You were the first to give the ultimate sacrifice since I joined this wonderful department and by God's grace I hope you are the last.

IT WASN'T TIL JUST RECENTLY I PUT THE FACE WITH THE INCIDENT. CORP. YOUNG WAS TRUELY A MAN OF GOD. OFTEN TIMES AFTER IT'S ALL SAID AND DONE THE FAMILY HAS TO GREIVE ALONE..MY HEART GOES OUT TO MRS MICHAEL YOUNG AND FAMILY..BE STRONG IN THE LORD AND IN THE POWER OF HIS MIGHT. HOLD ON TO HIS UNCHANGING HAND..ALTHOUGH TIMES GET HARD AND THE PAIN SEEMS MORE THAN YOU CAN BARE. REMEMBER, GOD PROMISED TO NEVER LEAVE YOU OR FORSAKE YOU.
*GRIEF TO GLADNESS*
Losing a loved one to death is a wrenching, bewildering, and shattering shock to body, mind and spirit. It carries with it the question, "Why, Lord, why?"
Healing comes only by the touch of God and time working together in orchestrated comfort – sometimes, slowly.
Memories are bittersweet; the love in life was full of joy. But now in death, there is suffering that breaks the heart. Loving someone exacts its price – credits and debits both.
Take heart, dear mourning one... "Blessed are those who mourn: for they shall be comforted" (Matthew 5:4).
To mourn and to be blessed seem such an incredible combination – the greatest of pains and the greatest of joy – yet in this Scripture they are divinely joined. The Holy Spirit, our promised Comforter, brings comfort on the wings of His sweet Dove even as we mourn.
This promise of comfort is not an empty promise. It holds a hope that mourning does not seem to bring. Although it takes time to ease the pain of separation, that time will pass with a comfort from above if you lean on Him. Cast aside the bonds of grief, put your loved one in God's caring hands, and receive your comfort now in this night valley. His comfort passes all understanding. His comfort gives you life, even in the face of death.
Our Evening Prayer - Let's Pray Together…
God loves you and wants to answer your prayer. Say this prayer with me:
Father, I need You, tonight especially. I give my grief to You for healing. Ease my pain with Your promised comfort. I thank You for the sweet memories of this lost loved one. Let the poignant beauty of these memories help erase the loneliness of my loss. Touch me tonight, dear Father, and give me strength to face tomorrow. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
GOD BLESS YOU MRS MICHAEL YOUNG AND FAMILY YOU'RE IN MY PRAYERS.
JUST SOMEONE WHO SAW HIS LIGHT

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

All of the good times & memories outweigh the loss of Mike.... but only barely. Although it's certain that he's in a much better place, he is deeply missed by those of us who were lucky enough to have him as a friend. It has truly been a long year without him, but I know he rests well.

Dear Cpl. Young,
From the first reflection to the very last one, it is obvious
you led an exemplary life and were well respected and
loved by those closest to you. What a saint you were
and are! Thanks for representing Jesus with such
integrity. His light truly shined in your life and now you
are home with Him forever. If our faith is in Jesus, our
Lord and Savior, we can be assured that we will one
day reside in Heaven with Him and be reunited with you. Since I didn't know you in this life, I look forward to
meeting you in the next. I wonder what work the Lord
will have for you. He will surely repay you wonderfully
for your many years of service to Him and your fellow
man.

Cpl Young (Mad Dawg),
I was looking at our old post 23 picture today and I thought about you. I remember how we used to talk on the phone after I left the State. I talked to you on the phone 1 week before the accident. You were talking about all the office work you had to do and how much you missed working the road. I heard about the accident and came back to visit you at the hospital. While I was there I kept remembering all the chases we were in together and the wrecks we worked. I just want you to know that Ill never forget the times we had together.

Mad Dawg,
I'll never forget that day. I was listening to the radio. It wasn't till later, I discovered what happened... Four miles from my house.
I went by the hospital & met your mother. You are a reflection of her. Now I know why you had that personality. With the days waiting & me calling the POST, bugging Neal, & anyone who answered, I tried to realize what it was like for your family. But I remember at the hospital, seeing the Peace of God on you mother's face. The Holy Spirit providing that Comfort.
You had an AWESOME funeral. All the family, friends & WOW- all the police that were there. So many I knew and hadn't seen in years. The tears that fell during your service were from some of the biggest, toughest cops I've worked with. That proves there loss and the love they had for you. I can't count the many times on the "Super Slab" on traffic stops to look back & see you there. Never a better feeling. The many, many chases we were in together. I remember back in the day, when I was a dispatcher 1988-89 (Camden County) & you would call on our frequency to let us know you were in the county... "674 CAMDEN". The many times you've backed me up on calls (we were always short-handed). The many accidents you worked for us. You were always the calm one. you never had a bad thing to say. You were always a cops cop & a TRUE CHRISTIAN.
I thank God everyday for my blessings.
I miss you Brother,

I was reading over some the comments left and heart and prayers go out to the family and friends of this great man. Though I never had the privilidge of meeting him that I can remember I truly understand what you feel and go through as you reach the first anniversary. I know how tough it is but I am living proof that you will get through it though it will not be easy. It has been 3 1/2 yrs since we lost Trooper Tony Lumley, my brother, and is it still very difficult but with faith and help from family and friends you will prevail. Be proud of the man you all loved and know he is always near.
