Strangely, you were seen in a vision. As we searched the internet, hoping to find that all was well and you were soaring like an eagle; we found that you were tragically taken away. Our prayers are with your family as they continue to make life's journey without you. You were such a precious baby boy. May God bless and keep your children in the hollow of His Hand. May your family continue to keep their eyes and mind fixed on Jesus Christ who is able.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the seventh anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I pray for solace for all those that love and miss you for I know that both the pain and pride are forever. I thank your family and friends for sharing their devotion to you through their reflections.

On the 2nd anniversary of Detective Shields death, we honored his service during roll call by reading his entry from ODMP. Each day, we honor one fallen officer on the anniversary of their death so as to keep them in our thoughts, and also to remind us of the dangers inherent in our job.

Detective Shields is gone, but not forgotten.

The coward who murdered you, Detective Shields, pleaded guilty this past Thursday. He will be sentenced next month, and faces 40 years. I pray he gets every last minute of that amount of time.
Mrs Shields was in the courtroom. She is very brave.
Mrs Shields, I wish you well in your studies. You will make a fine nurse.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Sometimes it is so hard to believe that August 7, 2006 actually took place. We were only partners for about a year but there are so many things that I do that I attribute to that time, so many people I am closer to now because of you.
You are a true cop. You seemed to touch so many people in your life time and so many more in your death. All was not in vain my brother.
Your spirit lives on and will forever. God bless you.

I met Kier at Skate 22 where I worked for his uncle. He was like a brother to me from the first day we met. We also began working together on music at the studio he and his friends owned called Kru Starz Entertainment. Being the only female singer I never had to worry cause my brothers would always look after me. Kieran and I sang together a lot and he always referred to me as "babygirl". Even today one year and 11 days later it still seems like a horrible, horrible dream to me. I remember talking to him on the phone right after Kameron was born and how excited he was to finally have his son... My god, i cry as i try to express how I feel inside about Kieran and since only God knows whats on my heart he is the only one who can ease this pain we all feel. Kier was one my biggest inspirations and biggest fan and I will always love him and his family. Dana Coleman "Babygirl"

My thoughts are with all of your loved ones and close friends on this first anniversary of your EOW.
