Reflections for Inspector Kieran Tyon Shields

To the family, friends, loved ones and the brothers and sisters who wear the badge of law enforcement. Words are never enough at this time of sorrow. We here at TCIR, will keep you in our prayers and thoughts and know that Detective Kieran Shields was a hero. He will always be remembered and we know that God will wrap his loving arms around you all and keep you safe and will help you through your pain.
"A brief moment of darkness"
was all that I knew,
before Heaven's Gate
came into my view.
Loved ones and friends
I had missed for many years,
welcomed me with open arms
and many happy tears.
All the hurt, fear and pain
that I have ever known,
is gone from my life,
I am finally home.
I gazed upon the Lord's
sweet smiling face,
and for the first time in my life
I knew and felt His grace.
I know that you miss me,
but please dry your eyes.
I will always be watching and loving you
from my home in the sky.
A cool breeze on your face,
a touch of light rain,
I will send as a reminder
that we will be reunited again.
Life on earth is but one
brief moment in time,
I am finally home,
Eternity is mine.
God Bless You All

In March of this year, our agency lost an outstanding officer, Joe Whitehead. He was from New Jersey, but made Georgia his home. My heart goes out to the Shields family and to the Orange Police Department for this tragic lost. May God Bless all of you.

Det. Shields was a friend of mine for the past 20 years. We grew up the same neighborhood. He had a magnetic personality even back then. Until the day he moved out everyone in the neighborhood gravitated towards his porch to hang out. Kier's porch was the hang out. Always joking and keeping everyone laughing. On the basketball court it didn't matter how bad you were (I was the worst in the neighborhood) he still made it competitive and fun. My friend, I just wish I could have been around to exchange stories with you ,but some 19 y/o punk took that from me. Rest easy my friend and until my number is called hold a place on the court for me.
Your friend,
Gas

Your loss pains us greatly. The tragic death of any officer is devastating for all those who serve and all those who love them.

To your children: I know nothing can ease your unbearable pain but stand tall and be proud, your dad is a hero who gave his life helping others and fighting to make the world a safer place.

To the Wife, Children and family of Detective Shield,
I was heartbroken to hear the news of the loss of your loved one. Although there are no words that can possibly comfort you now, please know that you are not alone and that Kieran will give you the strength to get through each difficult day. Although we will never understand why these special people are taken from us, you now have a guardian angel who will guide you every step of the way. He is a true hero and will never be forgotten.
