Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Inspector Kieran Tyon Shields

To the family and loved ones of Detective Kieran Shields and his fellow officers with the Orange Police Department:

I wanted to express my sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Detective Shields was killed in the line of duty. I hope that you are comforted by the support of your law enforcement family, and other police survivors. There are many people who will help you on the painful journey ahead. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Although I never had the privilege of meeting Kieran, I feel as if I know him through the loving reflections left by loved ones and friends. His valor and courage will never be forgotten.

I hope that God is holding him in the sweetest part of his heart and the most gentle part of his soul.

I am so sorry that Kieran was robbed of his life so young and so tragically, but through his heroism and the profound sense of duty with which he lived his life, he made an immeasurable difference. May his spirit continue to soar and may his memory continue to inspire.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Kieran gave to his community and the citizens of New Jersey, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on August 7, 2006.

To the family of Det.Sheilds. His day is done, his test he has won. He's been called home to sit at the Throne. Don't cry for him for you will never walk alone.

Det. Shields,
I had the pleasure of knowing you from HCO.
My heart breaks over your loss. I will keep you, your
family and your Dept. in my thoughts and prayers forever.
The OPD has not truly healed since the last tragic loss.
May your family, brothers and sisters in blue find comfort. What you did in life will echoe greatness thru eternity. Your children will know you as a true hero. I pray that the justice system will some day get it right and that criminals stay behind bars instead of just revolving thru the doors.
Rest easy knowing your loved ones will be taken care of.
Godspeed my brother.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. And also to your fellow officers. My husband is a police office for Reading, Pa. We too have just lost a great officer and a great person to a loser that thought nothing of taking another's life.
To the family & friends of Detective Shields, you are in our thoughts and prayers. May God bless you all and give you strength through this trying time.

Detective Shields,
I have not had the honor of meeting you, but I wish I did. I read a lot of nice things about you in the paper, and saw the photos of your beautiful family in the Daily Record. It is so unfair that you were ripped away from them. I'm so sorry things ended as they did. I will see you tomorrow, but I will not be able to shake your hand. But I will be there just the same, along with all of our brothers and sisters. Rest easy, and know we will be there for your family, to watch over them and take care of them until we are all together once again. To my brothers of Orange PD: Keep the faith! Never forget the majority of Americans are on our side and pray for us every day. The rest will eventually be DEALT WITH.

Dear Mrs. Shields, I am deeply sorry for your loss and the loss of your children. It saddens me to know more children are without their father due to evil. My two boys and myself are going through the same situation. My husband was killed in the line of duty June 16, 2006. My prayers and thoughts are with your family. Feel free to email if you would like to make contact at any time.

With deepest sympathy, Gloria Gonzalez
