Reflections for Officer Brent William Clearman

Cathy, I am the sister of CHP Officer Earl Scott. We lost him this February. In April 2005 I had the pleasure of meeting Brent at my son's father Scott's CHP graduation. Brent and Scott were roommates at the Academy. He seemed like a great guy and Scott thought the world of him.
I am so very sorry for your loss. Please know that you have many "sisters" in grief and if you ever need to talk or vent please feel free to contact me. I am sure Mrs. Bailey and Mrs. Walker extend the same invitation. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

As the friend of Brent's youngest sister, I had the privilege of watching him grow up in pursuit of his dreams. Quietly focused, he achieved every one in stellar form. Brent, thank you for your service to your community in the many ways you offered it. Your impact is keenly felt, and the world feels safer knowing that you are now watching over all of us from above. May you rest in peace...God bless.

I left California to become an officer in Missouri. You spent your career saving and taking care of others and protecting the state my family still lives in and I comend you for that. The California Highway Patrol is a great department and I truly believe you all have the hardest job having to stand out on the busiest highways running traffic, vehicle stops, and handling traffic accidents. You don't only do that but also help all municipal and county agencies with the calls we respond to. I know my wife worries everyday I couldn't imagine what she would do If God was to take me away. Mrs. Clearman my deepest sympathy to you and your family and wish there was something I could do to help ease the pain. The state of California lost a good officer and a good man.

Rest easy my brother.

It seems like I just got back from the funeral of Officer Birco, SFPD. This is to close to me, both in days and in area, but don't worry, the boys in blue are up there waiting to welcome you.

I was so shocked to hear about your passing. It just makes me think once again of my own nephew's passing. You will always be remembered and you are now with our Father.

To your family. We will see each other soon, I am sure, as we are all a memeber of a club no one wants to be part of, COPS: Concerns of Police Survivors. We are here to help. Call on us when the time is right for you.

I will never forget pulling up to the Mobil gas station on Reed Ave. to report to the Academy. Brent was sitting in his truck, when I parked next to him. I noticed the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor on his truck. It was a relief to see a brother Marine. I will forever cherish those 15 minutes of conversation, before we started our LE journey. Your dedication to your country and state will never be forgotten. It was truly an honor to know a man of your stature. Rest in Peace brother, till we meet again.
