I just wanted to say to this day Im am still sadden about this whole situation. I took the last 3 hours reading all 25 pages of reflections and Officer Wertz really seemed like a great man. I just wanted to leave a note and say thank you to officer wertz for everything he has done for this city. Im sorry there are people in this city that can't respect what these officers do for us.
To the widow and children of officer wertz,
My prayers are still with you!
May god bless you and please remember there are people who didn't even know officer Wertz who are still thinking about him.

Trish, I am so sorry for your loss.

Trish, Jared, Josh, his close friends, and the police department were Scotty's first priority. Let us remember Scotty for the hero and family man he was. Let us also remember that there are lots of loved ones left behind just trying to get through each day without him. Trish, stay strong, Scotty is proud.

hey Scotty!

Although we lost touch;

I Still miss your presence!

Yesterday I pointed out to my children where you bought that 1970 Nova that we looked at together!
And after my "very first car" got wrecked on the "first day that I had it," You sold it to me! (I Loved that damn car!)

Also I pointed out to my kids where the car wash was that you and Tommy hosed me down after I got sick in the Jeep!

Thank you! For the "BEST YEARS OF MY LIFE!"

Hey Wertzy! Geez, I come here often and still find it as hard as everyone else to come to the realization that your gone. Still everyday I come into the city and look for you. Then after I look, I get saddened by the reality that it will never be you in blue looking back with that everlasing grin you have. I want to extend my thoughts to your boys and Trish. I just can't imagine how they do it. Especially on holidays and special occasions. One day we will meet again....Take care! Miss Ya!

Scott,

Well, I got to check out "your wall" at Applebee's on
Friday afternoon and it was pretty cool. A special thanks
to the Muhlenberg Township Fire Marshal for the invite to
try out the food and to check out "your wall". It was a
sad reminder that your no longer with us, but it should
get easier the more I go over to see it.

I told the Fire Marshal how I accidently started a
fire in your kitchen. He then gave me some ground rules,
" don't drink anything over 40 proof, don't touch anything
and stay out of the kitchen !! ". Other then some simple
rules, we had a great time......

good bye for now,

Applebees did an AWESOME job at honoring you. We were all there, your family, friends and co workers. (Boy did we do some damage!!!), but you wouldn't have wanted it any other way....

It's still so hard to believe that you are not here. I still don't believe it sometimes.

YOU TRULY ARE OUR HERO!!!!

Hi #2 son.

Today was the day where Applebee's honored you as the
HOMETOWN HERO. Believe me, you are everyone's HOMETOWN HERO. If anyone deserved that honor it was you. You always went far and beyond the call of duty. Thank you Applebee's for doing such a great job. It was tough to go there and see all those pictures of you when you were so happy and enjoying life, all the pictures of friends and especially the ones of the baseball teams and our family trips. We will always have those memories and they will be cherished forever.

We miss you and love you

Scott,
I still come here often to read the reflections people write about you and Mike. Its nice to see all the happy times people remember about the both of you.It is so unfair that you both were taken from us. I relive both nights like they were yesterday every time I am here. Keep watching over your fellow officers and help keep them safe.

Trish,
I can't imagine what your life is like since Scott was taken away from you. I know you are doing the best you can under the circumstances and you need to keep it up.I hope Scott keeps sending you the sign's you are looking for.

Dear Officer Wertz,
I come here periodically to read you reflections. You need to be remembered by the life you lived, the memories you shared and the community you protected. People come here and read memories and prayers for you because you are the "HERO". You are highly respected by all in the community for what you have done. Rest in peace.

Mrs. Wertz,
Hold your head high. You are an amazing strong woman and a wonderful mother. What you have been through is incredibly unfair. I know that Scott would be very proud of you. Trust in God...He is the only one who truly knows.

Mrs. Wertz,

I came back to visit Scott's page because it has been quite some time since I last visited. Keep your head up high and do what is in your best interest for yourself, for Scott, and for your family. A wise man once told me that the people who truly care about you and love you will always be there for you. There is no textbook to the grief process. It is what we make of it on our own. I am still and always will keep you and all of your family in my thoughts.

March 25, 2007

Hi #2 son

Well it is almost that time of year again where we take our family trip, only this year it could be quite difficult since you won't be there with us to enjoy. I just want to thank you so much for all the wonderful memories we have from those trips over the years, which will never be forgotten.

Cancun was a real trip, sun burned head and ears (your ears looked like you had earrings all along the outer part of your ears because of blisters, head covered with a white towel and your sun glasses on, we thought you were trying to be an arab, or when we booked an excursion to swim with the sting rays and you didn't want to go but you did and then found out you really enjoyed it.

Guess what, I finally found 2 drinks I really like. It only took me, what, 50 years to find it. You would probably say I was becoming an alcoholic or I never thought I would see the day where you drink.

I guess in order for us to get through the spring and summer we will have to just think of all the good memories you left behind, believe me there are many, like claming in Delaware, it took you a while to get off the boat, but you did, not like Trish, how I can still see her with all the sea weed floating around her legs and jumping and yelling, she always kept the boat a float or when you were having a few beers and then you would run a few miles on the treadmill and get off and have a few more beers.

Please give us the strength for March 31, 2007, that is when Applebee's is going to honor you as the HOMETOWN HERO (which you really are).

I only know that I am so thankful we had all those wonderful times together and I don't have to feel guilty for things I didn't say or do, like some are trying to make others feel guilty for things they didn't say or do while you were here. They just have to learn to accept things that can't be changed.

We still all miss and love you so much. You will never stop being missed and loved.

Oh Scott.....
If it was for a day, a minute or if only for a second, I would trade places with you. For you to hold Trish and make everything ok. To mend and keep the family in line like you always did. You really were the glue that held everything and everyone together.

BE HAPPY.....thank you guys.....LOVE YOU, MEAN IT!!!!!!!

Give Trish the strength and know that she still mourns for you every second of everyday.

Forever thinking of you Scott.....Lisa

Scott,

All the years that we've been friends you never told me that you did magic tricks.

I know I didn't write for a while, I'd just rather talk to you at the cemetery (I don't need "spell check" to do that, LOL).

I would like to thank all the widows for the kind words that they wrote to Trish and
a special thanks to Denise Wise for all your support that you gave Trish in the time of need. All the widows on the ODMP know what Trish is going through.

Scott, I like to see the nice newspaper articles about you (hometown HERO,etc.), however I don't think it is appropriate to add the name of the person who took your life in the article. Your a HERO because you were killed in the line of duty, end of story.... He might of took you away from us, but he didn't take the memories.....

good bye for now,

"Slinger"

I was just reading over your reflections and came across one from your wife. It breaks my heart to hear the things she has to say. I agree with everything she said. Justice unfortunately is not swift, and the criminals do have more "rights". I cannot believe she is having to fight a cemetery, truly sad. Please be with her and give her the strength she needs to live everyday, carry on and honor you.

Mrs. Wertz, My heart aches for you. It amazes me what you have to go through when you lose a hero. That someone could judge or gossip is so hard to fathom, but I know it's true. Please know that there are so many more of us that support you.

After a friend of ours was killed in the line of duty in 2005, I realized that it's not JUST the ones that die that are the heroes, but the families that are left here to live.. without that one person that they were living for.

Thank you to Officer Wertz AND your family.. you have all sacrificed. Truly you all are HEROES!

Psalm 68:5 A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.

Peace be with you all.
