We once again have lost a part of the brotherhood of law enforcement. These times are difficult and the family and department has a long road of recovery ahead of them. The staff of Cops Evangelist Ministries would like you to know that we are and will continue to pray for you in this time of sorrow. Remember that God will not give you more then you can handle. Philippians 4:13 says…I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me.

I was raised in the Bay Area & my Dad retired from the SFFD. My Uncle is still in the SFFD with more than 30 yrs. This one hits close to home because of that & also because my husband is a Deputy.
Thank you for your service and dedication, Officer Birco.
May the Lord comfort your family, friends and co-workers at this difficult time.

To all of us at Bayview Station and to all who served with you and knew you, your loss of life has hurt us deeply but your love of life and infectious smile has sustained us. You always said 'Hi' and never ever had a bad word to say about anyone. You always shared your many gifts with us, including your gift of gab, and love of food. You never fear to go into harm's way and we all felt comfort when we saw your name on the line up sheet. Your generous nature was overwhelming when you broke from your weekend vacation the last minute and drove back down from Tahoe to see a fellow Marine off to Iraq.

I have a wonderful picture of us at the Sacramento Peace Officer's Memorial standing in front of the State Capital in our class A's. I will cheerish it always. How tragic it is that we will be marching in your honor next year in CA and DC.

I can not beleive you are not with us anymore but will to take solice and comfort in your zest for life. God Speed.

It truly saddens me to hear of yet another loss. I personally do not know Officer Birco but in this line of work we are are family. It affects all of us. I will keep you, your loved ones and SFPD in my prayers. Officer Birco made the ultimate sacrifice and for this you will never be forgotten. God bless you and to all those families that have suffered the loss of a loved one in law enforcement.

To Officer Birco's family and to the San Francisco Police Dept. Family,

To The Birco family, we feel your pain deeply, when one who wears the badge loses their live doing this noble profession. We also feel the pain and suffering. Always remember that your son, brother, uncle, husband, will never be forgotten. Nick is in a better place for he will join the other true heroes that have gone before us doing the job they love best. They will look upon everyone else that have to continue to march of peace and justice.

To the SFPD Family , I am truly sorry for your lost, words cannot explain why we have to lose another Officer while serving the public within our community. Yet, this is the realization of our profession. Each day we wear the uniform to serve the public, it might be our last. The danger lies each day and we are aware of it but times like this give us a clear and imminent present danger of our job. I respect all brothers and sisters in blue for sacrificing their lives each day to serve and protect the citizens.

God Speed!!
