Nick I knew you as one of the few Officers who didn't look at the negative side of this department. You always had a smile on your face, and you loved to talk to everyone. Your presence made it a better day for all of us who knew you. Even as I'm typing, I see the same smile on your graduation photo as when I saw you on the street. You will truly be missed. God Bless.

My deepest sympathys go out to the Birco family.
I share in your lost.
Nick was one of my needy kids. He always damanded that extra bit of TLC. That was because he gave so much of himself and he expected it in return. You knew if you saw Nick, there was no getting away with a quick hello. You were in for a ten or fifteen minute conversation.
He will be greatly missed...

Every day of my life I wanted to be a police officer. In 1996 I became a police officer and it was truly the best job that I ever could have embarked on. We all know the risks and the possibility of our name being posted on the ODMP,, but never give it a second thought when we go to work, kiss our loved ones and know in the back of out minds that we might not return to see them.
I have been to many LEO Funerals and always shed tears, whether I know them or not. It is the knowledge that we could be in their shoes and other officers mourning us. My deepest sympathy goes out to the officers family and loved ones.....especially the co-workers because they have to return to work the next day and do what we do best...BE A COP......
