Thanks to everyone for the kind words about my grandfather, who I never knew (and who my father barely knew). I accompanied my father to the dedication of the Lost Lawman Memorial on the grounds of the Texas Sheriffs Association in Austin, and I still remember his sadness during this ceremony, grieving for the father he lost at age 3.

This sad story has a puzzling ending, which I have never been able to understand. The killer was not apparently not convicted of this crime. It has been several years since I found and read the old newspaper articles that reported this. I hope to find the transcripts from his trial to learn more, but I have never had the opportunity to search for them.

I Pray for Peace for your Family, Friends and the men & women that now serve the Kimble County Sheriff's Office. I also Pray that the hounds of hell forever gnaw on the carcass of your murderer as his soul is consumed by the lake of fire.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 95th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

I just wanted to let your family and friends know that there are many out there who know the pain that you feel today. My brother Roger was killed 4 years ago today. You are in the thoughts and prayers of many folks who care. I pray that God will bless you with many precious happy memories to help fill your heart "especially today".
