My condolences to the family and Deputy Piquette's two young children. The children won't understand what he stood for in life, but I am sure his wife and family will explain it to them one day. They will be proud of you, my friend.
To his wife in particular: I'm sorry for your great loss. Don't lose hope. He has only passed on to a greater place. Your children, and his example, are a gift to the world. God Bless.

Early this morning my son drove by the scene of the accident that tragically took your life. He called me as soon as he heard a law enforcement officer had died as a result of the accident. I placed a mourning band on my badge before I left for work. I had recently worn the band for a fellow USDOJ special agent that was shot and killed in Florida just 2 weeks ago. It pains me to know that several officers have been killed in that short time. May God bless your family and fellow deputies in this time of grief. Thank you for your service and commitment to the citizens of Los Angeles County. We will never forget you. Rest in peace brother.
