Reflections for Deputy Sheriff David Stan Piquette
It's been a tough time for all of us Davey. I was there when you started your patrol career and we both shared the same goals. You were one person I admired in a department with a lot of people striving for the same thing.
Watch over your family. Watch over your partners when you can. Be the light we see when we need it.
We fought in the same ring, now help me along the path.
Rest in Peace Bro....Love always

Dave,
What happened? Where did you go? I heard the news very early as you can imagine. A part of me died with you that morning. I have tried not believing it, but it's finally sinking in. I pick up my cell phone every day and try and call you, but know that you are gone. I have a huge knot in my stomach, that won't go away. You were my best friend, and for that I thank you. Some people were jealous of you, but I was proud of you. I will NEVER forget you, and rest assured that your family will be taken care of.
I love you....

Dave,
It was a pleasure and an honor to work with you and call you friend. Your level of enthusiasm, dedication to duty, and commitment were unparalleled. Your service to our country as a U.S. Marine and your service to the people of Los Angeles County as a Deputy Sheriff are a testament to how much of yourself that you gave to others.
You have left your imprint on society and the Deputies that you trained will be your legacy. I find comfort in the fact that you will now be watching over and protecting us.
The trait I will remember most about you above your strength & honor will be the love you showed for your family when I watched you put together that DVD of your vacation with them. I’ll never forget how your eyes were glossy when you finished it and told me how much Shawna will be moved by it.
I will always remember you my brother,

Sir(!),
I will always remember your patience, understanding, and guidance in my rides with you at Century. I will always cherish the times I spent training and instructing use of force/defensive tactics with you.
You have made more of a difference in my life (as well as so many others) than you will ever know. I promise to do my best to become the kind of deputy and person that you set an example to be.
You will always be my friend and daddy. I miss you already.

To the family, co-workers and friends of L.A. County Sheriff's Deputy David Piquette...
KNOW that he is safe now and watching over you all. Help the children know their Daddy and comfort his wife in the coming days, weeks, years. Take good care of each other.

Dave,
As your training partner and friend I have developed the utmost respect for you.
I witnessed your strong work ethic when we were at Century station. But it wasn't until we worked as partners for the past year that I saw first hand that you had true leadership qualities that few men have.
Everyone who knew you was aware of your fighting spirit and your determiniation to be the best. What they may not know, is that your competitivness never overshadowed your willingness to help others by sharing your knowledge.
You were truly a giant among men. Thank you for being who you were.

David, I still can't get it through my head that you are gone. You were a great friend and will be missed so much. You enriched the lives of everyone who knew you. I don't know why God decided to take you so soon but I know that you are in a better place. I will forever cherish the time that we had together.
To David's family,
May God carry you through this tragic time. I know there are no words that adequetly convey what we all are feeling. But, I know that the pain we feel is only a small part of what you must be feeling. David was an asset to this department but more importantly he had a heart of gold and adored his family. He loved life and lived it accordingly. He will be missed. My prayers are with you.

Thank you Deputy Piquette for your dedication to protecting those in your community. It appears that your love for the job is something that many, many people will hold dear to their heart as they keep your memory alive. To your co-workers, family, wife and precious children...I can only pray daily that GOD will send you strength to make it through each day. It's how you lived that makes you a hero...not how you die.
Guardian Angel
By: Bradley Wilt
Dedicated to West Virginia State Troopers and ALL departments of Law Enforcement. Written for Trooper Elswick who was shot in the head by a suspect during a domestic in Oct of 2002. Thank you officers and families for your sacrifices!!!!
Who is this person,
the man in the green?
Never thinking of danger,
or though it may seem.
He works days and nights,
and not for the pay.
But that he can come home,
at the end of the day.
More precious that gems,
and all riches on earth.
You can’t put a price,
on this angel’s worth.
For everyone who’s in jail,
and serving their time.
They’re there cause our angel,
put his life on the line.
He never leaves home,
without kissing his kids & wife.
He knows that his job,
could cost him his life.
But always he gives,
and never thinks twice.
This must be an angel,
to make such a sacrifice.
Such pride in his duty,
he does it with love.
This man in the green
was sent from above.
Only God could send us,
such a wonderful gift.
Someone to bring justice,
that’s powerful and swift.
An angel in green,
he never will fall.
He’s here to protect us,
and uphold the law.
Don’t call him a hero,
he avoids the spotlight.
Just thank God for our angels,
when we pray at night.
But who is this man,
who doesn’t want fame?
He’s our Guardian Angel,
and TROOPER ( DEPUTY, OFFICER ) is his name.
Rest in peace Angel Piquette!

To Protect and To Serve
I don't know why you chose this path
It was surely not for pay
There's no routine or certainty
That brings comfort with each day
You leave your home and take with you
Silent prayers of family
They know the dangers you will see
They pray on bended knee
Your eyes see more in just one day
Than we do in an entire year
You strive to make our homes a haven
Safe from harms way and fear
You vow To Protect and To Serve
People you don't even know
You treat them all with dignity
Despite the filth they show
The way you serve with care and honor
Reflects your reputation
You wear your badge with such great pride
And it serves as confirmation
You never know with each call you take
If this will be your last
But yet you continue to take each one
And let your doubts just pass
This is your eulogy while you yet live
To wait for your death is sad
How much we need you to keep on going
To survive in a world gone mad

Dave,
What can I say hun? As you know, I moved from So. Cal. to Virginia, so it took a few days for me to find out about your unfortunate accident. When my father called to tell me I was devastated. My time working with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. was graced with your presence. The first time I met you, I knew you were a sweet heart just from your smile, it lit up everything around you, even on the streets of Lynwood when you were patrolling the streets with Century station before your training position. It is a shame that something so tragic had to happen to such a spectacular man. You were one of a kind and a true friend. I always knew I could call on you anytime I needed some cheering up. Thank you for your friendship. My heart goes out to your wife and twins. They will need all the support and love they can get from everyone who knew you. Rest in peace and keep us all safe as we move forward, remembering you always!
Love always,

Few people have the same passion as Dave showed on any day at the Force Training Unit. I'm glad I made it to the Rockdown the day before you died. As always, your skills and desire to train were at "11" and anyone who has ever had even one moment with you can never forget what a great guy you are. Our prayers will be with you and your family.

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Dpty Sheriff Piquette, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.
Then the rainstorm came, over me
And I felt my spirit break
I had lost all of my, belief you see
And realized my mistake
But time through a prayer, to me
And all around me became still
I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name
Through the rainstorm came sanctuary
And I felt my spirit fly
I had found all of my reality
I realize what it takes
'Cause I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name
Oh I, don't bet (don't bend), don't break (don't break)
Show me how to live and promise me you won't forsake
'Cause love can help me know my name
Well I try to say there's nothing wrong
But inside I felt me lying all along
But the message here was plain to see
Believe me
'Cause I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name
Oh I, don't bet (don't bend), don't break (don't break)
Show me how to live and promise me you won't forsake
'Cause love can help me know my name
Love can help me know my name
