Reflections for Deputy Sheriff David Stan Piquette

I was told today that a person that I served with in the U.S.Marines Had died in the line of duty. I came to this website to find that persons name and instead I came across Deputy Piquette's name. I am so in shock! I served with Deputy Piquette with the Marine Detachment on board the USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT ( CVN - 71 ) in 1993. Back then, I knew that L/cpl Piquette was destined to greatness, because he was always striving as a Marine to achieve it. So it really is to no surprise to me that he became a Law Enforcement Officer as we often had conversations leading to what we would do upon exiting the USMC. I am extremely PROUD that he achieved his goal. As often as Marines do, we always promise to stay in touch but as time passes, we get so caught up in lifes' dilemmas and stray away from doing so. I Pray that Our Heavenly Father has an eternal embrace on my fellow Marine and that he has given Him The Best assignment that God has to offer in his Kingdom. Dave,
You are an example for us all. Even as little kids both Rich and I wanted to be just like you. You are everything a man, father, husband, son, brother and friend should be. You have made your mark on us all and you earned your wings a long time ago my friend. I guess The Lord has requested your services earlier than expected. You will serve him well. Thank you Dave and God bless.

I only got to know you a short period of time as well as the rest of my reserve class, but we learned a lot from you. Thank you for not seeing me as a future female detuty, but as a future deputy and teaching me the same way you taught the rest of the guys. You made me more confident in myself and in what I did. We will miss you and once again thank you for being such a great and inspiring instructor.

David,
I had the honor of meeting you through your beautiful wife and twins. Being a mom of twins, I know how important it is to have a supportive and patient husband. You were that to your wife & more. I saw you last at the twins birthday and remember well the smile and pride you were glowing with as you helped your son to some cake. Please know your wife and the twins are loved and cared for. Rest well and thank you for all you did......... and who you were.

Dave was a hero and loved by so many. Take solace in knowing how many lives he touched and everyone he helped in his career. I am too familiar with the pain you have, I have many of the heart crushing feelings also. My children (3 little boys under age 4) have also lost their Daddy. The Daddy who was everything to them and they loved to be with. I know I am still able to get through each day only because of the help from the Department and Community that he served, and friends that loved him. His brotherhood and family will be there for you forever.

Sir, I never really got to know you, but you trained our class several times. I remember how great you were at what you did and yet so humble, I know you know rest with our Lord Jesus Christ where there is not more pain or sorrow. I will keep your family in my prayers, may they be comforted with inner peace and may your children grow up to be as great as you were. Thanks for serving our great country and Departement. "Blessed are the peacemakers(Deputy Piquette), for they will be called sons of God" (Matthew 5:9).

Dave
People keep saying it and it is true, it truly feels like a bad dream and we are all going to wake up and you will be there. I wish that were the case. It is such a tradgedy that you are gone. You made such a difference in so many people's lives- I am sure you have seen the out pouring of love for you as you have looked down on us from Heaven.
I met you a few years ago when I met your awesome wife Shawna through the twins club. You had a contagious smile and such a friendly personality. I sooo enjoyed each conversation I had with you and each time Mike and I got together with you and Shawna. I always thought Shawna was so lucky to have such a GREAT guy and I truly didn't even know you as well as many of your friends knew you, but you did make such a huge impression on me.
I won't forget when you were planning Shawna's surprise 30th Birthday party and all the emails you sent me to help you with it. You wanted that evening to be perfect for her with the dinner & comedy and "Country Dancing." You even had the times set and how long you wanted each thing to take.- So funny and sweet and perfect. The evening was wonderful and so memorable.
It was always so obvious how much you loved Shawna as well as your twins Justin & Jordie. ...Such a beautiful family.
Taken way to soon Dave- You will be forever missed by all who knew you. I will be there for Shawna emotionally and physically and Justin and Jordie as well.
Love you Shawna!
Keep your eyes on us Dave.

Piquette Family and Friends,

Just reading the many messages that friends, family and acquaintances have left, Deputy Piquette was undoubtedly a man of Honor and Respect. I remember going on countless ride alongs with him, and the attitude towards his job and the citizens that he helped watch over, was one in a million. We talked about his children and wife and how they meant the world to him. His stories inspired me and they will never be forgotten. I truly respected and admired his loyalty to his country, department, friends and family. God has a reason for taking such a good man and I know Deputy Piquette's legacy will live on and make many more good men and women. I offer my deepest condolences to his family and friends! God Bless You and Your Family, may you rest in peace.

We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of a loved one in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support. As we personally know, sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. I JUST SAW DAVE ON THURSDAY, JULY 6TH. AS ALWAYS WITH HIS JOB, HE WAS SERIOUS AND READY TO GO, BUT HE DID TAKE TIME OUT TO SAY "HELLO, COOKIE...THANKS FOR COMING OUT". THAT WAS THE TYPE OF PERSON HE WAS. HE TOOK TIME OUT FOR OTHERS WHICH IS WHY HE WAS A PART OF THE FORCE UNIT, A.O.T., ETC.

IT SHOCKED ME TO FIND OUT THAT A DEPUTY HAD BEEN KILLED IN A CAR ACCIDENT. BUT IT HIT HOME TO FIND OUT THAT IT WAS DAVE, ON HIS WAY TO WORK TO HELP OUT WITH ANOTHER PATROL SCHOOL.

TO HIS FAMILY, BOTH IMMEDIATE, AND EXTENDED, I BELIEVE THAT WHEN YOUR WORK DOWN ON THIS EARTH IS DONE, GOD TAKES YOU AWAY TO BEGIN ANOTHER WORK IN HEAVEN, A WORK THAT IS DEFINITELY MORE REWARDING. HE HAS LEFT US IN BODY, BUT IS WITH US IN SPIRIT. MAY GOD BLESS US IN OUR TIME OF LOSS. REST MY DEAR BROTHER, REST.... YOU HAVE DONE A GOOD WORK...
