On the 100th anniversary of Chief Dunn's death, we honored his service in our patrol briefing by reading his entry from ODMP. Each day, we honor one fallen officer on the anniversary of their death so as to keep them in our thoughts, and also to remind us of the dangers inherent in our job. Chief Dunn is not forgotten.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 99th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service to the birth state of myself and my son. My cherished son Larry Lasater was murdered on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Thirty years seems like a light sentence for your murder and the shooting of two elected officials.

Rest In Peace.

It is not how he lived his life that made him a hero, it is how he died. Officer Dunn will never be forgotten.

He is one of our fallen heroes.
