A friend has fallen. A man of that famous thin blue line. Like all of us he was imperfect, but unlike all the rest, he made the perfect choice of how to serve his fellow man. In that perfect pursuit he made the final sacrafice. It is heros like him that give us the sanctity of peaceful life. A hero has fallen and we shall not forget.

AMERICA AND GEORGIA LOST A HERO. BEING A BROTHER OFFICER FROM GEORGIA HURTS EVEN WORSE. DETECTIVE STEPNOWSKI WAS DOING WHAT WE ALL DO EVERYDAY, HE KNEW THE RISKS BUT DID HIS JOB BECAUSE HE LOVED HIS JOB. GO PATROL THOSE GOLDEN STREETS OF GOLD NOW DENNIS, YOU HAVE EARNED YOUR WINGS. MAY GOD BLESS THE FAMILY AND FREINDS AND THE DEKALB COUNTY POLICE DEPT. R.I.P. BROTHER.

I am thousands of miles away and I will not be able to pay my respects to the memory of a fellow officer. The news of a fallen comrade has touched me deeply even though I am faced with the dangers of war on a daily basis, to know that a domestic warrior has given it all for his community and mine, still hurts. I have worked with Det Stepnowski and my prayers go out to his wife and family. I am proud to have known and worked with him, truly one of DeKalb's finest.

Wow...I can't believe you're gone. I can still see you out in the parking lot at headquarters.... out on the street on a traffic stop.... taking time to back Uniform Officers on their traffic stops and calls.

You did it right. Like they teach in the Academy...You never gave up... you fought till the end.

He'll never rob, shoot or kill again. You got him off the street. You deserve credit for that and all the years you put in.

Rest well. You'll be missed.
