Reflections for Detective Dennis Carmen Stepnowski
"Step" you brought lots of joy and laughter to the men and woman you touched and they will all remember you for being a Honorable officer that they would all be proud to call friend and partner.
You are a true Hero and we will miss you. We lost you too soon. Guard the Gates of Heavan for us and we will reunit again one day to continue the joy and laughter.
Our prayers and condolences go out to your family. I hope they know that what ever they need the family of the Thin Blue Line will always be here for them.
Rest In Peace.

The policeman stood and faced his God,which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining just as brightly as his brass. "Step forward now, policeman. How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To my church have you been true? The policeman squared his shoulders and said. "No, I guess I ain't because those of us who carry a badge can't always be a Saint." I've had to work most Sundays and at times my talk is rough, and sometimes I've been violent, because the streets are awfully tough. But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep... though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills got to steep. And I never passed a cry for help though at times I shook with fear,
and sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here.
They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand, I never expected or had too much, but if you don't...I'll understand"
There was a silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod. As the policeman waited quietly for the judgment of his God. "Step forward now, policeman.
You've borne you burdens well. Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets. You've done your time in Hell"

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Officer Stepnowski, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.
Then the rainstorm came, over me
And I felt my spirit break
I had lost all of my, belief you see
And realized my mistake
But time through a prayer, to me
And all around me became still
I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name
Through the rainstorm came sanctuary
And I felt my spirit fly
I had found all of my reality
I realize what it takes
'Cause I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name
Oh I, don't bet (don't bend), don't break (don't break)
Show me how to live and promise me you won't forsake
'Cause love can help me know my name
Well I try to say there's nothing wrong
But inside I felt me lying all along
But the message here was plain to see
Believe me
'Cause I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name
Oh I, don't bet (don't bend), don't break (don't break)
Show me how to live and promise me you won't forsake
'Cause love can help me know my name
Love can help me know my name

Step, Just yesterday we were talking about you and a message you left on our voice mail that made us laugh as did all of your messages and phone calls. You have been a best friend to all four of us from the day we met, teaching Anthony to swim and being there for "nana's" first steps. Every time we speak of you we all get a smile on our face as you've touched us in many ways as I'm sure you have done the same for the community.
You can't know how much we will miss you! Our condolences to your family as well, I know your Mom and Dad will surely miss you and were very proud of all of your accomplishments.
God speed Dennis, we LOVE YOU.
