Reflections for Special Agent William "Buddy" Sentner, III

It's never easy to understand the sensless killing of a law enforcement officer especially while acting in official capacity of his or her duties. We lost one of our own recently and to the co-workers, family, and friends: as time goes on healing will begin. Remembering and honoring our loved ones is very important to learn from past experience that he or she may have gone through. To all who knew Buddy, keep his spirit alive through honoring his sacrifice. Keep on fighting the good fight. We will prevail. Lean on each other, after that's what we have each other for. Respectfully Brother in blue. God Bless.

SA Sentner, your sacrafice was not in vain. Your willingness to face the evil of man and to protect your neighbor and country is what has made America great. Americans like you serve as an example to others that the best of mankind will win out over the worst of mankind. I pray for you and your family and that peace may settle over both.

It's difficult to imagine that just 2 weeks ago you, I , and fellow USDOJ special agents were lifting weights and working out in our Washington DC hotel's gym. We were attending in-service training at American University. You made an impression on me then, and by your heroic actions Wednesday morning in the line of fire, you have made an impression on me for the rest of my life. I am proud to wear the same badge that you did and am honored to have met you. Thanks Buddy for your dedication and service to our great country and may God bless you and your family. Rest in peace brother.

THE POLICEMAN STOOD AND FACED HIS GOD, WHICH MUST ALWAYS COME TO PASS. HE HOPED HIS SHOES WERE SHINING, JUST AS BRIGHTLY AS HIS BRASS. "STEP FORWARD
NOW, POLICEMAN. HOW SHALL I DEAL WITH YOU? HAVE YOU ALWAYS TURNED THE OTHER CHEEK? TO MY CHURCH HAVE YOU BEEN TRUE?"

THE POLICEMAN SQUARED his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't. Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a Saint. I've had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough, and sometimes I've been violent because the streets are awfully tough. But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep, though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just got to steep. And I never passed a cry for help, though times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept many unmanly tears. I know I don't deserve a place among the people here, they never wanted me around except to calm their fear. If you've a place for me Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, but if you don't, I'll understand."

There was silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod. As the policeman waited quietly, for the judgement of his God. "Step forward now, policeman, you've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on Heaven's
streets, you've done your time in hell."

When you were with the U.S. Secret Service you served your country well protecting the President and Vice President of the United States. You continued your career with the Department of Justice fighting corruption and keeping the american public safe. You gave your life for your country in defending the lives of other law enforcement officers who were being shot at. Thank you for your sacrifice and may you rest in peace. God bless you!

Buddy and I became friends will working at the Vice Presidents residence during the early 1990's. As a uniform division officer he worked midnights and went to college during the days to obtain his degree's. His drive accomplished his goal and he became a Secret Service Special Agent. We saw each other very little of the course of years, but met again in 2002 during his time in the Phoenix, AZ. We shared many private conversations and I knew Buddy would move on. In the Spring of 2004 I applied for a job with the Justice OIG, Buddy did to. I turned down the job and Buddy accepted. The good Lord has choosen a loyal and dedicated angel who will be missed, but "never" forgotten.

To Mrs Sentner-
My heart goes out to you in your time of loss. I will be praying for you and your family during this extremely hard time in your life. It doesn't make sense why things like this continue to happen, especially to the good people in life who are making a difference in the world everyday. I cannot believe this has happened and I pray you will be able to smile when you think of your husband and know he is a hero.

To be killed by a Federal Corrections Officer...that puts a lump in the pit of my stomach. The Agents probably went in there to arrest these so called "corrections officers" in what they thought would be an uneventful procedure. I am so sorry Agent Sentner had to pay the ultimate sacrifice. My sympathies to his wife and family, keep strong.

Most people don't know what a real hero you are, but when the details are revealed, everyone will truly understand how proud and privileged I am to have worked with you. You saved the lives of countless people with your actions. One could only hope if faced with the same situation that he could have a fraction of the courage and determination you showed on June 22, 2006. Thank you, I will never forget you or the sacrafice you made.
