Reflections for Captain Octavio Rafael "Ox" Gonzalez
As I got my start in narcotics 11 yrs ago, one of my first cases happened in St. John and that's when I met Ox. As the suspect fled out the back door, Ox and I were the first over the fence giving chase. Although the suspect got away that night, we never gave up eventually serving justice to the runner. Thank you for all the dedication then and throughout the remainder. Ox, you and your guys were always willing to help. May God provide comfort to your family, friends, and co-workers. Rest in peace!

Octavio,
My thoughts and prayers go out to your family and the members of your agency. Another Law Enforcement brother and Hialeah High Alumni lost in a heroic manner. I know you will always be watching over us from up above. Godspeed, and thanks for taking up the noble cause that so few have chosen, but so many care to criticize.

Dear God, I Miss My Daddy
My daddy is a policeman, he wears a suit of blue,
He didn't come home from work last night, mommy says he's in Heaven with you.
I'm worried about my daddy Lord, he's never been away this long before,
Mommy cried when she told me that we wouldn't see daddy no more.
I don't know what it was that mommy was trying to explain,
She said the police were after a bad man, and somehow my daddy was slain.
Now I don't know what that means Lord, all I know is we miss daddy a lot,
Because tomorrow is my birthday, and I sure hope he hasn't forgot.
Lord if my daddy is up there in heaven, please tell him as soon as he is free,
To hurry back home as fast as he can, because we miss him, mommy and me
Thank you God, Amen.
Greater love hath no man than this, that he would lay down his life for another.
We miss you Ox.

Captain
I have the honor of knowing you since the day you rai8ised your right hand and said "SO HELP ME GOD". In the human existence we rarely experience the pressence of a true warrior that is also an angel disguised mnas a human being. YOU ARE BOTH. I shall now stop praying for you and therby begin to pray to you as you are now in the presence of Almighty God for Eternity.
As you are aware, I have 84 names on our Wall in Washington over the past 42 years. You are number 85. Because of you more officers are empowered with the knowledge and example that you gave so generously. They have a far better opportunity of making it to retirement . That is but one of the greatest aspects of your LEGACY.
Please interced for us as we continue onwar in the performance of our duties.
May Almighty God Bless us all and keep us safe.
