Paul was my classmate and a great trooper. We broke-in together in the Holden barracks. Paul leave behind his seven children along with his loving wife, Mary-Ellen. For those of you who didn't know Paul, he was "family man". He worked hard to support his family and loved them with all his heart. Paul didn't have a mean bone in his body and was loved by all who had the blessing of knowing him. It's a sad day for us but Paul and his family will not be forgotten. Rest in peace by classmate and rest assured that the Massachusetts State Police will take care of its' own; your family.

No amount of words from any of us can ease your grief and suffering at the lost of your husband, father and bother officer. But remain strong in your faith and know god as a plan for us all. Take comforted in knowing we will all see Paul again when we walk the streets of heaven. To the family of Trooper Paul F. Barry I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom. Every law enforcement agency across the country feels you’re lost as well, we to have lost a bother in the fight. So it’s with a heavy heart we send our deepest sympathy to your family and the Massachusetts State Police. My god blesses you and your family. Rest in peace bother and know you will never be forgotten

We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of a loved one in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support. As we personally know, sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. Rely heavily on family, friends, and other law enforcement. Honor your fallen loved one, for their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Policeman's Prayer
.....Author Unknown
When I start my tour of duty God
wherever crime may be,
As I walk the darkened streets alone,
let me be close to Thee.
Please give me understanding
with both the young and old.
Let me listen with attention
until their story's told.
Let me never make a judgement
in a rash or callous way,
but let me hold my patience,
let each man have his say.
Lord, if some dark and dreary night,
I must give up my life.
Lord, with your understanding love,
protect my children and wife.

I look on this website every few days to read the reflections that were left for my husband. He was killed January 1 by a driver who fell asleep and it still seems like yesterday. It is hard to believe that it has been almost 6 months and I wish I could tell you that it gets easier. I am so sorry that you and your kids have to go through this. One thing that has helped me is knowing that everyday he is remembered by many all over. Our husbands left this world with honour and respect and forever will be viewed as a hero. With love, Tara.
