I personally knew Deputy Gibbons as I went to the police academy with him. He was a fine officer and I sure a better father. May his family and friends make peace in the coming weeks with the tragedy which occurred.

We are saddened once again with the sad news of another hero taken from us. It is a great loss for the family and department during this crisis. We might not know the right words to say, or even know how to say them, but we can pray for your family and friends. May the Lord give them strength through this time.

“REMEMBER ME”
Law enforcement officers are, indeed, a special breed of people. Ask anyone on the street and they will tell you that they would not have our jobs for anything in the world. It takes something special to do what we do and at the same time be able to even contemplate retirement. We try to be optimists. Unfortunately, there are a few of us who will never make that date with retirement. By the very nature of our job, we are at risk everyday of losing our lives, either at the hand of some deranged individual or in some other situation that we, by virtue of our occupation, may be unable to avoid. Some people have recognized the hazardous duties we involve ourselves in, the risks we take, and the pride we take in accomplishing that job. There is National Law Enforcement Week, dedicated to us who gladly accept the responsibility of protecting the citizens in our respective jurisdictions. National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day is dedicated to those who gave their lives in the line of duty. These are but two examples of remembrances specifically for law enforcement personnel. Remembrances that come but once a year. We should remind fellow officers of another type of remembrance, one that will last a lifetime. Sooner or later, a doctor will pronounce us dead. It is inevitable. Regardless of whatever happens, death is the end we will all have to face.

I was saddened to see another fine officer losing his life to a drunk driver. It is not fair to lose someone to the inappropriate actions of another.
For his family, may God grant you peace in this time of turmoil. The support of police brethren is yours, use them to hold you up when you feel most like falling. I will keep you in my prayers.
Godspeed warrior, thank you for watching over us all.

My heart goes out to Chief Deputy Gibbons' kids. No doubt they are devistated by this. To say we all mourn is meaningless to them. I just pray they never forget their Dad and always know he's there with them in spirit, always. God can't keep a good cop from doing his job and that is looking after folks, especially those closest to us.
God will watch over Calhoun County as it says good-bye to one of it's own and we all will feel a little pain at the thought of the loss.
God Bless Chief Deputy Gibbons and please, let him Rest in Peace.

My heart is broken for the family of Deputy B. Gibbons. I am praying that GOD will send a peace and comfort to his children, parents and officers of the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office that can't be explained. I'm sure he was a great person, and deputy. For it's how you live that makes you a hero...not how you die. Please know that my young children and I kneel and pray each night for the families and deparments that make it to this website. May God Bless and Protect our Law Enforcement Officers.
