May God bless and keep Dale Geddies family.
Dale was my friend, a brother Constable and a fellow politician. Dale was an Officer who truly loved Law Enforcement and helping his fellow man. "All give some and some give all." Dale gave all and died the way he lived, doing what he loved, giving 100 percent of himself for the service to the public and assisting brother officers.

The pastor was so true in calling Dale a cop's cop. I will never forget Dale's positive attitude. I hope to put as much enthusiasm and pride into my career as he did. It was an honor to work with Dale at the Smith County Sheriff Dept. God Bless!

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his God.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

I came across your web site unintentially . However, I know what it's like to feel the loss of a loved one. I'm sure it does not get said often enough, but just as an everyday citizen , I know without the bravery and sarifice of people like Constable Geddie , we could not live in the safety and security that we have been so blessed with in this Country. I did not know this brave man , but I would like to say, THANK YOU, and how sorry I am to the family and friends.

Thank You

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Constable Geddie, especially to his wife. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Dale, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Dale's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Dale's life was about so much more than the way he died. Dale will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Constable Geddie, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been three years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

I worked with and have known Constable Geddie for over 20 years. He was more than a fellow Officer, he was a friend. He was a Christian man that always put others before him. He loved helping others and felt that this was his calling from God. Winona, Tyler, Smith County, Texas, and the Nation has lost a true hero.

I heard of this tragedy through a good friend of mine that worked with Constable Geddie. My heart goes out to all of his family and friends and you all are in my prayers. I understand your lost as I lost my brother-in-law John John Yancey, K-9 Officer November 2003 while on duty. Please know your loss is felt by all. God bless. (Huntsville, TN)

Constable Geddie, it is so often asked why? And most of the time we never get the answer. Your service and dedication to your fellow man will not fade away, not a man who was so well liked and respected. Those who were responsible for your death will not be forgotten, for the person who did this will be judged one day and God will look at him and say "Why" Then his judgement will be passed. For you, there will be angels singing in Heaven, "Welcome Home Dale Geddie, Welcome Home"

To you family and comrades, I say this, the entire law enforcement community stands with you in this time of need, and many prayers are said to ease your burden. God be with you all in this tragic event, and rest assured, this man will never be forgotten. His mark is here forever.

Reality

Imagine how our world would be
If every police officer quit
Turned in their gun, turned in their badge,
Just finally had enough of it.

No respect, no loyalty,
No appreciation of all they do,
They’d give their lives for all of us,
These wonderful officers of “Blue”.

Kicked at, spit on,
Punched, stabbed and shot,
Everyday assaults on officers,
Done…without thinking a second thought!

Our laws are in favor of criminals,
There’s always some loophole in their case,
Out again to commit more crimes and murders
…creates pain, that we, the family and friends
…in time will never erase.

Why should they do it?
Why take the risk?
Why put their life on the line?
Subject their loved ones to endless suffering,
When their precious life is lost while fighting crime.

More murders, more kidnappings, more robberies and rapes,
Just to mention a few,
Please ask yourself how life would be,
If there were NO officers in Blue!

Would you do it? Could you do it?
And for how many…would YOU give it all?
Rewards are a 21 gun salute, a Medal of Honor,
And your name gets added to the Wall.

Think about it. Why are they here?
And why do some hate them so?
Because they enforce the laws that put convicts and murderers
In jail serving time, or on “Death Row”.

All give some and some give all,
It’s a risk they chose to take:
To put their heart and soul in it,
To put their lives at stake.

So, please take a moment,
Please give it deep thought,
Think of what “you can do”…

To help show respect,
To help follow the laws,
So we’d quit losing our Heroes in Blue!
