We are saddened once again with the sad news of another hero taken from us. It is a great loss for the family and department during this crisis. We might not know the right words to say, or even know how to say them, but we can pray for your family and friends. May the Lord give them strength through this time.

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell

THIS WAS POSTED ON A FRIENDS REMEBRENCE PAGE AND I FELT THIS SHOULD BE SHARED.

FOR THOSE WHO REMAIN: WRITTEN BY R.MCLATCHER,DPD
POSTED BY THE WIFE OF AN OFFICER:

THE PHONE WAKES US UP THIS TIME ONCE AGAIN
TO TELL US WE'D MISSED OUR DUTY AGAIN.
WE ALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE TO SEE THE UNSEEN
WE ALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE TO INTERVENE.

THE ER IS NOW WORKING AT A FEVERED PACE
WHILE WE WAIT OUTSIDE AND BEG FOR GODS GRACE.
THE DOCTORS COME OUT WITH TEARS IN THEIR EYES
THE CHAPLIN TRIES TO HELP US THROUGH OUR GOODBYES.

A PAIN IN OUR SOUL BEGINS TO SET IN
OUR DUTY IS NOW TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
TO SUPPORT AND CONSOLE IS NOT THE ONLY TASK
WE DO THIS WITH HONOR AND WITHOUT BEING ASKED

WE MEET AT THE CHURCH TO PAY OUR RESPECTS
AND WE GO TO THE CEMETARY FULL OF REGRET
"AMAZING GRACE" FROM THE PIPER AGAIN THIS TIME
WE TRY TO HELP EACH OTHER NOT LOSE OUR MINDS.

WITH SALT ON OUR CHEEKS AND GRIEF IN OUR EYES
WE LEAVE OUR PARTNER WITH ONE LAST GOODBYE.
TOSSING AND TURNING AS THE NIGHT GOES ON
WRESTLING HALF ASLEEP WITH WHAT WENT WRONG.

A BROTHER HAS FALLEN FROM OUR RANKS YET AGAIN
LEAVING NOTHING BUT GUILT FOR THOSE WHO REMAIN.

YOU WILL BE FOREVER REMEMBERED BY EVERYONE..

May 25, 2006

My family's thoughts and prayers are with you. This senseless act reminds everyone of the dangers of this job, but yet everyday my husband and his brothers in blue go out and protect us from the evil that walks the streets. Your courage and dedication will not be forgotten. Thank you and God Bless.

"WHAT IS A HERO?"

ONE WHO NEVER HESITATES TO TACKLE THE MOST DIFFICULT PROBLEMS...

ONE WHO IS ALWAYS BY YOUR SIDE...

ONE WHO KNOWS RIGHT FROM WRONG...

ONE WHO ACTS WITH PRIDE...

A HERO TOUCHES EVERY ONE OF US, WHETHER IT BE WORD OR DEED...

ALWAYS TENDING TO THOSE WHO FIND THEMSELVES IN NEED...

WHEN A HERO LEAVES THIS EARTH, YES, IT'S SAD BUT TRUE..

ALL TOO MANY TIMES, THE HERO IS DRESSED IN BLUE.
(WRITTEN BY ERIC DERENZIS)

My prayers go out to your family and friends. RIP Brother.

Jason, I didnt know you, but I feel the loss the state now feels in having lost one of its protectors. Although He took you far too young, I know by now God has welcomed you into the streets of Heaven. There you may rest with the angels, for your work here is done.

To Jason's family, my heart and prayers go out to you. He will not be forgotten, nor will you.
