The members and staff of the Chauffeur Internet Radio want to send our deepest sympathy's to the family, friends and sisters and brothers in law enforcement.
A Part Of America Died,
Somebody killed a policeman today,
And part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect,
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids,
And spend many long lonely nights.
The beat he walked was a battle field too
just as if he had gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
In your town or mine,
While we slept in comfort behind locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And stands at each new rookies' side.
He answered the call,of himself and gave his all,
And a part of America died.

I was hoping, when I checked, the officers down page that there would not be a new hero added to the list.
Corporal Jason Makowski you will never be forgotten and you will always be one of the hero's that gave his life for something that he enjoyed doing and was proud to be one of the police officers who keep us safe 24/7
God Bless You All

Jason, I remember you well as a bright student in the Criminal Law and Procedure Class I taught at Schoolcraft Community College. Your active participation in that class demonstrated your ability to work and interact effectively with others as well as serve, which you have done with great honor and valor.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and fellow officers of Corporal Makowski.
While no one who wears a badge wants to be put into such a situation, you put yourself into the line of fire to protect those whom you might not have even known despite the danger. While I did not have the privilege to have known him personally, I am certain that he has found a place in heaven.
Rest in peace my friend; those of us who remain will cover your post on the thin blue line.

What a senseless tragedy. It is always sad when an officer pays the ultimate price and this tragedy hits close to home. Jason, I am wearing my mourning band for you as will every one of my co-workers. You died a hero and will be remembered as such. Thank you for your service to your community and you will be missed by all.

I came on the department only 3 months before Jason, so I had the privilege of working with him during his full career. Jason, I was there the day you reported for your first shift with us on midnights, I remember it well because you were now the "rookie" on the shift and not me......I only wish I could have been there for you when you answered up for this man with a gun run. Jason was working a "traffic car" this fateful day and technically wasnt required to respond to calls for service, but when I learned of what happened, I wasnt suprised that Jason had stepped up and rushed to the scene.....thats the type of man he was. I truly believe that I am a better person & officer because of my time in service with Jason. I will forever cherish the memories of working the night shift as partners with Jason in a two-man complaint car. The shift was never boring with "J" around!! The news will report that a police officer was killed. What they should report is that a "great man" who was a police officer was killed.
THEY SAY THAT A PERSON NEVER TRULY DIES AS LONG AS THEY ARE REMEMBERED......I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER JASON MAKOWSKI

Deepest sympathies to the men & women of the DPHD. Another hero has fallen at the hands of someone bent on causing death and destruction. The death of one officer is a tragedy, but, latey it seems, that our area has lost so many fine officers to senseless acts of violence. While right now it means little, Mrs. Makowski and her son can take comfort knowing that their husband/father died a hero. Protecting those that he didn't even know. May God keep you safe and in his loving arms.
