No words can bring true comfort at a time like this. A loss like this is undescribably devastating and overwhelmingly difficult. My husband was a Sergeant for the Wayne Co. Airport Authority Police Department killed in the line of duty on 2/9/05. Just know that my family and I are praying that his family, friends and department find strength and peace in the future.

Jason,
I know we only met a few times, but it was definitely a pleasure knowing you. It seems like yesterday we were all at the bar drinking and having a good time. Rest in peace brother, you will not be forgotten.

What a sad day for law enforcement. As it rains here in Michigan, I can not help but believe that it is your tears of joy pouring down on us. Joy, that you may now rest in peace. You are now in heaven looking down and protecting all the men & woman who risk their lives everyday. God bless you and your family!

I HAVE A FRIEND WHO WORKS WITH YOU WHO CALLED ME TONIGHT WITH THE SAD NEWS OF YOUR DEATH. HE TELLS ME THAT YOU WERE WORKING A VOLUNTARY OVERTIME TRAFFIC DETAIL WHEN YOU UNSELFISHLY CAME TO THE AID OF YOUR FELLOW POLICE OFFICERS WHO WERE PINNED DOWN UNDER FIRE FROM AN ARMED SUSPECT. YOUR BRAVERY UNDER FIRE WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SACRIFICE MY BROTHER. YOUR WATCH IS OVER. YOU WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN. GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND L/E CO-WORKERS. GOD BLESS US ALL.

Jason

I met you last year at a MSP training class and we went to lunch two day in a row. We had a fun two days at class and I made a new friend. You gave me your phone number so we could hang out but we never made it that far. I wish I would have called and got to know you better. I know that you were very funny and just a good person. I am sorry that there are people on this earth that act the way that man did on the 25th. Jason you will always be a hero.

God Bless

Yesterday, the murder of Dearborn Heights Corporal Jason Makowski occurred just a few blocks from my house. It was a hectic scene, as usual with this type of situation. This quiet neighborhood was awaken to the senseless violence that we used to contend with on a daily basis, no area is immune. Our prayers are with Corporal Makowski, his family and his fellow Officers. On this Memorial Day weekend may he and all of the Officers that have fallen before him rest in peace.

It is a beautiful Spring day,
The colors fly proudly in the breeze.
The sun is shining, the birds chirping,
Yet nobody seems at ease.

A somber mood fills the air,
A sense of sadness among us all,
For today we are burying a Hero,
Who chose to answer the call.

They come from far and wide,
To show their respect and admiration.
For your commitment to serve and protect,
And lifetime of service and dedication.

And off in the distance,
A slow thunder grew,
A helicopter fly over,
In honor of you.

A bugler plays taps
As is the tradition,
A final salute rendered,
While everyone stands at attention.

As family members weep,
And officers console one another,
We realize the magnitude of our loss
As we bury yet another Law Enforcement brother.

Easy going in nature,
Respected and loved by all,
We are proud to have served with you,
As you answered the call.

God Bless Cpl. Makowski's family, friends and members of the Dearborn Heights Police Department. Rest in peace Jason...the watch is ours now.
