Reflections for Corporal Jason Anthony Makowski
I didn't know Jason as well as everyone else. I met him maybe a dozen times or so, but what I did know about him is that he was an amazing father. To me, that fact alone makes him a hero. My heart breaks that Cameron will not know first hand the love that his father had for him. I sincerely hope that Jason's ex-wife and mother will raise Cameron together and never let him forget that his father lived for him and loved him more than anything.

My husband was an officer who was shot & killed in the line of duty several years ago. I'm very sorry to hear about what happened to officer Makowski recently. I always get teary everytime I hear about an officer who gets killed in the line of duty, because I know what his/her family are going through. I pray for his family & friends daily.
God allows things to happen for reasons we may never understand. But I've come to realize that even during the hardest moments in life, He's always there to hear us, help us, and heal us during our grief. God gives us all strength when we need Him!

I worked with Jay for about 6 years. He was always one of the first to respond to "hot" runs and always showed up as back-up to the other units. He was fearless. Just a great officer. I can't believe that he's gone. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about Jay and the loved ones that he has left behind. Bill and I talk about him every day. This has been very hard on him. They were pretty good friends. I'm going to miss his crazy voicemails to Bill. Jay was always entertaining. God Bless his family and his family in blue that he leaves behind. Jay leaves us with honor and respect for the job that he did. I will never forget you Jay, you have touched our lives and left a hole in our hearts.

I am so sorry to hear the loss of Cpl Jason Makowski. He served with honor, integrity, and selfless service and everyone who worked with him I am sure was very very proud of him. Do not worry any more as he is with the Lord now and he is watching over all police officers. God Bless the Dearborn Heights Police Department and the family of Cpl Jason Makowski.

The Dearborn Heights police department has been through so much this past week. Jason's death has taken more out of these guys, more then we could possibly imagine. Jason's spirit will always ride "shotgun" on there shoulders to help keep them safe while they are protecting us as a city. Although these officers are are not told often enough, I want each and everyone of them to know how much we appreciate the daily sacrifices they make to keep our neighborhood safe. These officers are the bravest people that my children and I know. Jason, you are a hero!!!! you unconditionally sacrificed yourself to keep the children and others caught up in this crazy situation safe from harm. Your Mom and family should be proud!!! (and I Know they are). To you Cameron, your Dad was the best!!!! His sense of humor, priorities in education, his knowing just what to say to people when they needed encouragement was amazing. As you grow please always remember your Dad loves you!!!always!!! Be proud of the Makowski name. It stands for hero.

We spoke for only few minutes, but I could see the dedication to your job in your eyes. Your smile was geniune and your care and concern could not have been more sincere. Officer Jason Makowski, you were not the first officer I have come in contact with in my lifetime. You were, however the first officer I came in contact with who left nothing less than a deep impression on my heart. The day we met, when you answered our call for assistance, I knew there was something very special about you. You were the type of man every mother hopes her boy grows up to be. I prayed for you from the day I met you and will continue to pray for your family and friends.

I, like many,am in disbelief that you are gone. I have shed many tears because of your departure and it still has not sunk in that you are gone. I will never forget the fun that we had, the Wings games, Blarney Bay, American History X, the ride alongs, poker at your #1. Never one to shy away, you responded when you didn't have to in order to back fellow officers and protect the citizens of the city- and you paid the ultimate price. My thoughts and prayers are with your family in their time of need. I miss you Jay.

~~~~~The Broken Chain~~~~~
We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name.~~In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.~~It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you, the day God called you home.~~You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide; and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.~~Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same; but as God calls us one by one, the Chain will link again.
I have returned home to florida and am still in disbelief that my brother is gone. I am so proud of my brother and am so grateful that he was honored by the city of Dearborn Heights. Thank you so much for all the stories and all the people that expressed their sympathy to me. I was so lucky to have a brother like jason, he did everything right ,I just cant understand why my dear brother is gone, it is overwhemlming. I had just talked to jason the day before this happened and as usual he gave me his funny advice, I was suppose to be the big sister and all he ever did was help me through things. My life will never be the same, thank you to everyone that treated my brother like JFK and for making him the hero that he was . I loved my brother so much it hurts , please continue to pray for us as this is so hard for us. Thanks again to the city of Dearborn Heights, I am proud to say I grew up there and am honored to be the daughter of Frank Makowski and the sister of Jason Makowski. I know they will watch over me in heaven. Tara
We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of a loved one in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support. As we personally know, sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. Rely heavily on family, friends, and other law enforcement. Honor your fallen loved one, for their sacrifice will not be forgotten.
Corporal Makowski, We have never met but I know you. I have heard numerous stories about you, and all of them have made me either smile or laugh.
A person that I care for was a big admirer of you and held you in high regard. You were his partner. His friend. You called him "junior", made him laugh, drank with him, and helped to teach him how to be the Officer he is today... and for that I thank you.
The amount of people who love you, care for you, and will miss you is astonishing, but not unbelievable. To a brother in blue, rest in peace.
