Reflections for Police Officer Seneca Bailey Darden
My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Officer Darden. May you find strength and courage in Jesus during your grieving process.

Norfolk Sheriff's Office

Here we are again offering our prayers, and deepest sympathy's to the family, friends and sisters, and brothers who wear the badge for law enforcement. Even though we do not know this police officer we still feel great sorrow in our hearts.
A POLICEMAN'S PRAYER
BROTHER WHEN YOU WEEP FOR ME REMEMBER THAT IT WAS MEANT TO BE.
LAY ME DOWN AND WHEN YOU LEAVE REMEMBER I'LL BE AT YOUR SIDE...IN EVERY DARK AND DREARY ALLEY I'LL BE THERE AS YOU SLOWLY TREAD, ON EVERY STREET CORNER IN THE DRIVING SNOW I'LL HOLD YOUR COAT AND YOU WILL KNOW.
IN PLACES WHERE THE DEVIL IS AFRAID TO WALK...
AT DOORS WHERE YOU MEET RESISTANCE...
IN HOUSES WHERE CHILDREN HIDE,,,
YOU KNOW I'LL BE AT YOUR SIDE.
THE PLACE FROM WHICH I NOW RESPOND IS OVERSTAFFED WITH HEROES GONE...MEN WHO ANSWERED ONE LAST JOB AND DID IT WELL.
AS POLICEMEN WE UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A CARD DEALT IN OUR HAND...A CARD WE HOPE WE NEVER PLAY BUT WE HOLD IT THERE ANYWAY.
THE CARD IS SOMETHING WE IGNORE AS WE STAND ON THAT THIN BLUE LINE EVERY TOUR...FOR WE KNOW THAT WE ARE THE ONLY PRAYER FOR MANY OUT THERE.
SO REMEMBER, AS YOU WIPE YOUR TEARS, THE JOY I HAVE KNOWN THROUGHOUT THE YEARS...AS THE JOB I LOVED TO DO I PRAY THAT THIS THOUGHT WILL SEE YOU THROUGH.

Oh God. I am so sorry. I know you'll have a blast in Heaven. May God be with those you leave behind and also with the officer that now faces the rest of his life knowing he robbed you of yours. What a tragedy for everyone.
All those left here on Earth will be in my prayers. You're in Heaven so you won't be needing them :) Say hi to Pete

My heart breaks for Officer Darden's family & friends as I know their pain. I pray for his family to have forgiveness and also pray for the officer involved. The Lord must be busy as he has called many heroes home recently and especially from the Tidewater area. I hope the Norfolk PD officers will pull together and help each other (and Officer Darden's family) through this. God bless you all and thanks for keeping us safe!

We are saddened once again with the sad news of another hero taken from us. It is a great loss for the family and department during this crisis. We might not know the right words to say, or even know how to say them, but we can pray for your family and friends. May the Lord give them strength through this time.

While it is no consolation for your loss, my heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and fellow officers of Officer Darden.
While I did not have the privilege to have known him personally, I am certain that he has found a place in heaven through his selfless service to those he swore to protect.
Rest in peace my friend; those of us who remain will cover your post on the thin blue line.

When I heard about what had happened from Rikki, it felt like I had been kicked in the stomach. To lose a fellow officer is devastating. It is even harder to lose a fellow officer that you spent 6 months with in the academy. You definitely made us work hard during the academy to earn our badges, but we did get stronger! You and I were always friends during the academy, and after the academy once we were on the streets. I will never forget the times we shared in the academy. My thoughts and prayers are with your family during these trying times. Watch over us from above and keep us safe. We will meet again one day.

I just left this site not a 2 hours ago. It is breaking my heart to see VA lose another fine officer.
To the family, friends, and officers that knew Officer Darden, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.
Then the rainstorm came, over me
And I felt my spirit break
I had lost all of my, belief you see
And realized my mistake
But time through a prayer, to me
And all around me became still
I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name
Through the rainstorm came sanctuary
And I felt my spirit fly
I had found all of my reality
I realize what it takes
'Cause I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name
Oh I, don't bet (don't bend), don't break (don't break)
Show me how to live and promise me you won't forsake
'Cause love can help me know my name
Well I try to say there's nothing wrong
But inside I felt me lying all along
But the message here was plain to see
Believe me
'Cause I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name
Oh I, don't bet (don't bend), don't break (don't break)
Show me how to live and promise me you won't forsake
'Cause love can help me know my name
Love can help me know my name.
