Virginia has had more than its share of heartache
recently. This tragedy has 2 victims. While we
mourn the death of Officer Darden let's remember to
also pray for the other officer involved in the shooting.
His pain must be overwhelming.
It is with a heavy heart that we say our good-byes to
Officer Darden. The task of getting through this pain
seems monumental. May the arms of Jesus cradle
you until you are strong enough to stand on your own.
May you feel His presence and know His peace. God
bless his family and co-workers at this most difficult
time. With love from one coast of America to the other.

Officer Darden and I were former coworkers and classmates from the 69th academy class at Norfolk. I always respected Seneca, even though he made us do a ton of extra push-ups. He still made me laugh, and the staff, try as they might, could never break his spirit. His little "whoosh" noises he made during his moves in defensive tactics were priceless. After graduation, he went to the first precinct and I went to the second, we didn't see each other as much, but the memories we made in the academy were great. Seneca, you will be missed. Watch over all of us and may God bless you, your family and your fellow brothers you left behind.

Thank you for all you did for our safety while you were with us. You will be in a place of peace and gold streets. Say hey to my baby for me. For your family, I am sorry for your loss. He will reunite with his brothers in blue which have left us already. That does not take away the pain but it does let you know he was called away from us to patrol in a higher place....

Seneca,
Words can never express how sad and overwhelmed we all are about losing you. I keep thinking that my phone will ring and you will be on the other end laughing telling me it was just a rumor. Through the last few months we have become closer and we started to depend on one another's encouraging words and friendship to make it through each day. I promise you Seneca, i will never forget you or the things you did for me.I will do my best to make sure that Brin, Mariah and your Mom will always be taken care of because that is the way that you would have wanted it. Continue to watch over all of us and rest in peace.

“REMEMBER ME”
Law enforcement officers are, indeed, a special breed of people. Ask anyone on the street and they will tell you that they would not have our jobs for anything in the world. It takes something special to do what we do and at the same time be able to even contemplate retirement. We try to be optimists. Unfortunately, there are a few of us who will never make that date with retirement. By the very nature of our job, we are at risk everyday of losing our lives, either at the hand of some deranged individual or in some other situation that we, by virtue of our occupation, may be unable to avoid. Some people have recognized the hazardous duties we involve ourselves in, the risks we take, and the pride we take in accomplishing that job. There is National Law Enforcement Week, dedicated to us who gladly accept the responsibility of protecting the citizens in our respective jurisdictions. National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day is dedicated to those who gave their lives in the line of duty. These are but two examples of remembrances specifically for law enforcement personnel. Remembrances that come but once a year. We should remind fellow officers of another type of remembrance, one that will last a lifetime. Sooner or later, a doctor will pronounce us dead. It is inevitable. Regardless of whatever happens, death is the end we will all have to face.

YOu will be dearly missed. It would not be a day that went by that you didnt make sure everyone was ok. Even if it was from a phone call or just a thought in you mind. i will always know that you were a good man trying to do the right thing in everything that you put your heart to. My blessings go out to your mom and family.
