Reflections for Police Officer Seneca Bailey Darden
Even though you are no longer here with us, you can still hear our words. Even though I had not seen you since highschool the call I received from your cousin on the morning after your death touched me. I applied for a police officers position with a fellow police department and knowing that your life was taken in the line of duty makes me want to pursue that career even more. You will be greatly missed by everyone and my prayers go out to your family. All the thoughts and memorys that everyone has will forever be in everyones hearts. We all love and miss you.

At the beginning of every shift, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.
Today, May 24, 2006 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Police Officer Seneca Darden who died in the line of duty just three days ago.
When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.
Officer Darden's sacrifice will never be forgotten.

At this difficult time I would just like to say to Brindle and the rest of the Darden family that I'll be praying for you. Seneca was a good friend as we met at Virginia State University in 1999. He would also always talk about going him to Courtland every weekend to see his family and Brin. He was a very fun person to be around. We had classes together as we had the same major. I remember he messed up my haircut one time and we just laughed about it. I can recall him being there for me as we would help eachother with class assignments. It would be times were all the fellas in the dorm would stay up late and playing video games and play jokes on eachother and Sen would be right in the middle having a ball... All of us who had the chance to know him should just appreciate that he was a great guy, and would extend his hand to help out in any way he could. Heaven just got an angel...He'll be truly missed!!!

Darden, this is the wife of a fellow Norfolk Police Department officer, My husband was the one with you giving you cpr in your moments when God was calling you to fly with His angels. I remember meeting you with my family after an odu game. My two year old son was amazed by the "cop car" and you smiled at him and let him turn on the siren. He (my two year old son) the night that you died asked where his daddy was,(and he was with you that night) and I said that daddy was in his cop car catching the bad guys and putting them in jail. He looked at me and said, I want to be a cop like daddy. Well know this Darden, you are a hero that many people want to be, like my two year old son, who already knows that policeman are heros. Your assignment is not done, it has changed. May you soar with the angels, and rest in peace.

To the family, friends, and co-workers of PO Seneca Darden our thoughts and prayers are with you. My family and I want to offer our sincere condolences to all of you. A poem was left on my husbands memorial and the last few lines of it reads: Step Forward Now Policeman, You've Born Your Burden's Well, Come Walk a Beat on Heaven's Street, You've Done Your Time In Hell...
