I attended Officer Darden's service at the Kellum Funeral Home on Thursday evening out of respect and appreciation for a young man bravely serving his community. This young man, according to the testament of fellow officers, neighbors, friends and family who spoke in his honor, was an exemplary role model for us all. He was a devoted son, husband and father in addition to reaching out to others in the community who sought his friendship and counsel. It fills me with deep sorrow that his life ended so tragically and at such a young age.

I sincerely send my love and prayers to Officer Darden's family and friends and pray we will all learn from this horrible event to love one another and cherish each and every day.
