117 Fell before you wearing the same badge, walking the same streets. Today you joined those 117 and too many thousands more watching over the rest of us. You honored their memory by the job you did, not how you died. People talked about you today and smiled when they said your name, and shed a tear as they knew you were gone. So now we hope to honor your memory, for the life that you lived and the sacrafice that you made. May we be worthy to hold that great honor. Rest in peace brother.

At the beginning of every shift, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.
Tonight, May 19, 2006 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Police Officer Anthony A. Byrd who died in the line of duty earlier today.
When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.
Officer Byrd’s sacrifice will never be forgotten.
