BYRD,
I GOT ON THIS PAGE TO SEE IF YOU WERE HERE YET. ANOTHER MEMBER OF OUR FAMILY IS GONE. I KNOW BRIAN WAS WAITING ON YOU WHEN YOU WENT HOME. I WILL NEVER FORGET THE TIMES WE WORKED OVERTIME TOGETHER LAUGHING AND JOKING. I WILL SEE YOU AGAIN IN THAT ROLL CALL ROOM IN THE SKY. TELL BRIAN I SAID HI, AND ALWAYS KEEP A WATCH OVER THE SWD.

Rest in peace Officer Byrd. I attended your going home service today and was sad that I did not have the opportunity to meet in person. I am sure we would have become friends. Your service to the City will never be forgotten. We will look out for your family as you watch over us.

I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to the Byrd family and the entire Baltimore City Police Dept. This is such a senseless and tragic loss that the entire law enforcement and corrections community is experiencing. We have lost another brave brother in blue, but in I know that Officer Byrd is patrolling the streets of heaven, Officer Byrd was the true definition of a hero that will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Heaven has called another hero to come across the Thin Blue Line

Byrd, who would have known that me asking you and your wife to Mother's Day dinner, would be my last gathering with you before you went home in the arms of the Lord. This was a last minute thing that we decided to do together with our families, and if I don't know by now, everything happens for a reason. This little bit of time we shared allowed us to take photos of you for the last time. Words cant express how I feel. But I always thanked you before and I am going to thank you again for always being there to put a smile on my face when the job and other things got me down. Your inspiring words helped me through alot. God has put angels on this earth to help us along the way. You were truly an angel that I will miss. Till we meet again. Keep smiling down on me and the rest of us. Say hello to Brian. With you two up there, all the angels will be laughing. I love you.

Bryd words can't explain how I feel inside. You and I were brothers from another mother. When we first met in 1995 as cadets at the HOTDesk, we instantly clicked. You became my best friend and you always will be. You are a great man with a beautiful heart.I learned a lot from you and will always admire your character. When I went through hardtimes a few years back you and Shantel kept me strong by feeding me God's word and it got me through.

Byrd I thank God for your friendship. You know sometimes we get so tied up in everday life we bypass making time for people we care about or just picking up a telephone to simply say hello. I'm so glad you stopped past my house a few weeks back and we just had a chance to laugh, joke and talk about old times. You are now with our father and creator Jesus christ and to him I give the glory. I will truly miss you brother.

Policeman's 23rd Psalm

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want,
His comforting hand reduces fear to naught;
He makes me walk through streets of crime,
But He gives me courage and peace of mind.

He leads me by still waters in the path I trod,
And He says in Romans I'm a "minister of God,"
He leads me in righteousness as He restores my soul,
For His name's sake He keeps me whole.

When I walk through death's valley, right up to the door,
I will fear no evil, for He comforts me more;
For Thou art with me every step of the way,
As thy rod and thy staff protect me each day.

He prepares a table, especially for me,
As I work daily among life's enemies;
He gives me authority to uphold the law,
And He anoints my position in the midst of it all.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me,
Each day of my life through eternity;
As I long to hear Him say, "Well done...,"
When I lay down my life, my badge, and my gun.
