I truly miss you. Our lives will never be the same. You were always a big pratical joker and I really miss your jokes. You have always been determined to succeed in life and encourage others along the way. I will always love you. I never thought that your life would stop so soon and change the entire family. As we all know life goes on, however it is sad that you are not here to carry on with us.
Tell your Ned and Jeff hello for me.
I will see you on the other side again.
Love always

I can't believe believe you are on this website. It all seems like a bad dream. Things have not been the same since you been gone especially in Sector 1. We had so much fun as a squad and with you around I would laugh all night long. I remember on Thursday May 18, 2006 me, you, and most of the squad attended Leah's monthly officers breakfast. We were watching the movie "G" and talking about men wearing sandles. We had such a good time and laughed so much. I did not think in a million years that would be our last gathering together. I really miss your humor, knowledge, wisdom, and advice. You were truly a good friend. You will never be forgotton.
WE ARE NOT HUMAN BEINGS LIVING A SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE,
WE ARE SPIRITUAL BEINGS LIVING A HUMAN EXPERIENCE.
UNTIL MY EXPERIENCE IS OVER WE WILL MEET AGAIN.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Officer Byrd, especially to his wife. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.
From reading the news reports and all the reflections left for Anthony, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Anthony's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Anthony's life was about so much more than the way he died. Anthony will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.
Officer Byrd, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been three years but we still miss him terribly.
Wishing you brighter and better days,
Jocelyne :)

Dear brother "Bird" I am at a lost for words so, I am going to write you this letter as if we were standing at my mother's house talking about old times as we always did. I met you in 1996, you were fairly new to the job and I was a 17 year old inspiring to become a Police Officer. I can remember bugging you every Friday and Saturday to do a ride along in the Southwestern District. I bet you were probably tired of this kid, who would keep you up all night talking about the job and many other things. However; you never showed it. Thank you "Bird" for your kind words and wisdom which I carry with me each and every day. Thank you for being my "BIG BROTHER" and showing me the way out of "EAST BALTIMORE." Thank you for showing me how to do the job and continue to be real to myself and my family. I know many of us wish we could bring you back, but I believe GOD doesn't make mistakes. There are many former kids such as myself, that "Bird" took under his caring wings many years ago and guided us in the right direction to become successful adults. I challenge us as Police Officers to reach back to our youth, guide them in the right direction as "Bird" did for me. I will continue to keep your family in my prayers, rest now you have just been promoted to the Honor Guard.
Until we meet again, Rest In Peace your little brother "Junior".

Tony was my inspiration in life. he made me want to better myself for me and my family. He played a main role in my lfe today, thats why i am the way I am. Happy, loving, encouraging, honest, trust worthy ect. I could keep going because To taught me alot. His main saying to me was "YOU HAVE TO ENJOY LIFE WHILE YOU CAN" that i can say you did. I have not forgotten the three F's. (1.FUTURE 2.FAMILY 3.FUN) I will miss you Tony. you are in my heart always. As a little brother I will look out for YOUR family in any thing that a man is suppose to do because thats what men are for! TO TAKE CARE OF OUR WOMEN!!!!
LOOK UP IN THE SKY ITS A BYRD ITS A PLANE!

I never thought or expected to see your name or face flash across the television, radio or newspaper stands worldwide. I will truly miss your smile and humor that you brought to the family and friends. What I enjoyed the most about you is that fact that you were always on the downlow about your career. No one would have ever suspected you to be a cop just because of how you carried yourself. You surely believes in going out in style and we all are proud to be apart of it.
Love always

Tony,
I don't know where to start,I guess when we got the call it seemed so unreal even seeing you was still unbelievable. I cant't stop asking why but I know God doesn't make any mistakes.I have moments when I just laugh out loud when Iam thinking of you, people look at me like iam crazy but it's ok.I remember our last conversation and you told me that you would be around that following sunday and even though you werent here physically i felt your spirit here with me laughing and cracking jokes. Tony iam really missing you and it's only been a week. I cant help but to cry cause i feel like i lost my best friend but i know that weeping endures for a night. I know that you got those angels in heaven cracking up. Tony you were the best at what you did and at your homegoing service it showed just how much you were loved.Iam going to continue to keep your memory alive. Rest in Peace you've earned it.
Love you forever,

I truly believe god moves in misterious ways; I say that prior to your death 2weeks i guess after not seeing you for at least six months because of everyday life. you came walking around the corner from my office at work and i immediately jumped out of my seat after noticing you we gave each other the normal hug and handshake, with normal why you dont call so we can hang out speech......:)!!! we promised each other that we would call one another but of course we didn't. I say this to whomever may be reading this reflection that no matter what you're doing pick up that phone or take that visit to see and/or speak to your loved one's and friends because we never know.
Byrd my brother and friend i miss you already my wife always get on me about being distant with my friends and colleagues with this new job and schedule of mind. people tend to take friendship in vein....and after reflecting on our brief but beautiful time we had together i realized that the best part of working in the district was being by your side and doing the job together. you were the best part of my daily tour of duty......as freddie said in his speech, I HOPE TO SEE YOU WHEN YOU RISE BACK UP. REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND............ONE LOVE!
