Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Anthony A. Byrd

It’s been 13 years since I’ve wrote on this page and 17 years since we’ve lost you. For 17 years friends and family have been coming to this page to reflect on how much you not only meant to them, but also the impact you’ve had on their lives. It’s great to see such warm-hearted stories about a man I only knew for 9 years.

I am very grateful for all of the stories shared on this page because now at 26-27 years old, I can truly admire just how phenomenal you were, not just to me, but to everyone you’ve encountered.

I really appreciate everyone leaving kind messages about my father and continuing his legacy over the years.

Forever loved and in our hearts <3

Anthony you were the smartest boy in my class in elementary school. We saw each other around 2004. You were still a kind guy. RIP.

Grateful to have met you. Extremely grateful for the person you were. We were convinced we were related after the second "meeting". You knew me as Shantel Byrd. Just wow. May you continue to rest peacefully. May your family continue to heal. You showed me what a good officer was and I've held on to that all these years. Thank you.

It's been so long since I've been to this page, but today on your born day I was overcome with emotions. All good. Your birthday has always brought us such joy. I remember when we were kids every year we would be off from school on your birthday and your mom used to forget, so the day before you would stick out your chest and tell her in your little man voice that you were not going to school the next day and there was nothing that she could do about it. She would look at you like you had lost your mind and commence to fussing you out. We would bust out laughing and then tell her that schools were closed because of the martin luther king holiday. That joke never got old. But you were always the jokester. You kept us laughing. You just had away of brightening up any room. I will always love, admire and respect the man you grew up to be. You are the best brother, cousin, friend and girl could have. When you were here with me in this existence called life, I always felt supported and protected. I hope I honor you and I hope your proud of me. I love you and miss you so much. Looking forward to the day when we can laugh again.

Brother Byrd, I have been low in spirit for a few days mainly because your departure date from your earthly life was very significant in my departure from the Baltimore Police Department...You see after 32.5 years as a public servant, I began to become tired. Very tired of the direction the department was headed and tired and seeing brothers like you making the ultimate sacrifice and the un-apprechiateness of the others who forgot what true Sacrifice meant... I thank God for allowing me to know you , work with you and attend several events with you. To your family I pray that they will be richly blessed knowing that you were dedicated to your profession and family. And as you watch over us may your family find peace knowing that you were one of Baltimore Best
