Hi Mike,

Happy Police Week 2011! Just wanted to let you know that my wife rode in the Unity Tour this year. 230 miles! She rode for Deputy Ridings from Sptosylvania County, but I'm sure you won't mind. The funny thing is that she has connected with your daughters. She was so happy to see them for the first time at the memorial. She always talked to them through facebook and has always wanted to meet them. Your daughters are awesome young women with big hearts. I hope you know that people do care and will always be there for them. Thank you for your sacrifice and the sacrifice of your family.

Gabby,

I have to tell you, I just learned that 2nd Lieutenant Mark Payton past away today. He died at home while off duty, and he had a heart attack. He was a very good person and a great cop! I think he was in the motorcade for your funeral. Payton was lead Supervisor of the Fairfax County Police Department's Motor Squad. ♥

Gabby,
I while at police week 2010 I got to meet a very special person. It was your father, he was walking around talking about his son and how proud of a father he was. While talking to him he asked me if he could give me something. Not knowing what he might give me I replied with a yes. As I type this I am setting here looking at what he gave me. It is a card with a photo of you on it with the thin blue line in the back ground. Under the photo it says, SMPO Mike "Gabby" Garbarino. On the back it has Romans 13:14 on it. I want to think you for your service. I also want to think your father for the photo card.

Mike,
After four years many people miss you like it was yeaerday.I was able to personally meet Sue and your daughters and was able to share with them your last conversation with me and the incredible faith that you shared with me on that cold morning and how it took your passing from the earth to make it sink in how important that time was for both of us. I will never forget our times working togeher and your story inspires others to this day and will for eternity.
I wish you and your family the best my friend.

I never had the opportunity to know you. I wish that I had. I left FCPD dispatch a couple months prior to May 8th 2006. I have since spoken to your daughters and they are such wonderful girls. I know that they miss you terribly. Please continue to watch over them and the rest of your family and friends. I am thinking of you on this day, 4 years later. God bless.

Four years - seems like forever and yesterday at the same time. I think of your children and family often and pray that they are doing well. I know they must miss you terribly and though some time has past, the pain never fully goes away. May you rest in peace, dear brother and may God bless, encourage, and comfort your family now and always.

Dear Mike, it is so hard to believe and even accept the fact that you were taken from us and your precious family four years ago.

I will always think of you and the wonderful days we spent together out on the road patrolling the streets of McLean, VA. I have so many memories and stories to tell and many of them are with you!

I truly enjoyed my time with FCPD and at times wonder where that time went and so quickly. I have always been very proud of the PD and so enjoyed working with many of the Officers that made up the FCPD. It was Officers like yourself that made me want to come to work and share my moments with you and other Officers like you who I respected and trusted with my life.

Mike, I lost some very good friends this year one of whom was Debbie Keefer, please find her up there and give her and Rodney some comfort.

God bless you Mike and your family.

Mike-

I never had the opportunity to work with you, however, we did seem to run into each other alot in the field. I always remembered what a nice person you were and how professional you were. My impressions were correct, not only were you a nice person, but a great professional Police Officer.

It is my honor to say that I knew you and worked with you. I can say that I knew a true HERO... RIP Friend..

Mike, another year has come 2010, I wanted to leave a note, I wanted to tell Sue and the girls that I will never forget you, the great work you did, not just that, that you were such a good person to everyone! Time moves on but I will never forget you and the love you have for your family and friends. Still listening.....
