Reflections for Master Police Officer Michael E. Garbarino
Gabby...Your strength and courage that day will never be forgotten. I will never forget hearing you on the radio that terrible day. You watched out for me and our brothers and sisters as you called out on the radio. For that, I say Thank You..You and Vicky will never be forgotten. The lives you both saved are countless including mine. When we worked together in Mclean, you watched out for me. You kept me straight as I drifted off course. You stood up for me when others tried to put me down, You were a true inspiration. I will watch over Sue and the girls as you have watched out for us. May God welcome you with open arms and please continue to watch over us. I miss you Brother.

My heart aches for Michael Garbarino's family. Every day, my son and I kiss my husband goodbye as he leaves in uniform, to protect the citizens of Fairfax County. Since this tragedy has occurred, we hug a little longer, and he holds his son a little tighter. It is so easy to forget the extreme danger involved in the profession of law enforcement, and that these officers lay their lives on the line every day, on duty and off, to protect the rest of us.
My God Bless Michael Garbarino, and his family. My thoughts are with you. Thank you for your service MPO Garbarino.

Mike, I don't know what to say right now, All I can do is cry,, You were a gentleman, friend, and one of the best Cops I have ever known. You were always there to help, We worked many cases together and always had a good laugh at who was doing what, in what school.. Always thinking of new ways to get the kids motivated. You will be so missed by all! Rest in Peace my friend, I will miss you.. God protect your family in this time, and all your brothers and sisters in Fairfax.. Terri

I prayed the pain we all felt when Det. Armel was taken from us would be eased by the speedy recovery of MPO Michael Garbarino. The worst fears were discovered this morning and we all are left in agony - again. I pray for the Garbarino family, and I thank them as a fellow officer and citizen of the County of Fairfax for sharing their beloved husband, father, and son with us all. Rest easy brother.

“Friend in Blue”
We have worked together for many years;
it’s our voices ringing in your ears.
We try to make those long days brighter,
And hopefully, the load a little lighter.
We send you to the bar-room brawl.
And out in the rain to the nuisance call.
We worry about you day and night.
To make sure every call turns out all right.
We share your sorrows; we share your joys,
which is why we think of you as ... "Our boys."
Then why have we never said to you,
"I'm proud of you ... my friend in blue."

You are a cop’s cop. To survive the initial ambush with such serious wounds only speaks to your warrior spirit within. The courage and bravery you and your fellow officers displayed May 8, 2006 speaks to your training and commitment to protect life.
