Reflections for Deputy Sheriff William Birl Jones
I have read so many of the wonderful things that people have said about Bam Bam, and they are all so true. He was a wonderful friend to my brother - never juding, never a mean thing to say. He and my brother Mike, laughing and planning their future. Bam Bam was an adult from the time I remember meeting him in junior high, always so focused about the direction he was going to take. My heart goes out to his family and friends which I sure are many - because whom ever he met soon became a friend to Bam Bam.
Many prayers,

I don't know how it works in TN, but in CA, whenever I go on a ride-a-long, I am a small part of the department. Whoever I go riding with looks out for me and in turn I look out for them. Being the friends that they were, Deputy Jones and Mr. Brown had the comfort of each others friendship as they passed. This provides me with a little peace out of the tragedy. My heart is with both families.

Brother Bill, you will never lock your keys in your cruiser again and your coffee will always be hot. You are now patroling the golden streets and will never have to worry about going home at the end of shift. You are finally home brother, so keep on smiling and patroling with your new shiney badge that you greatly deserved! Although we never met, we will be patroling the same streets together some day. A final salute to a hero that went 10-7 too soon. God bless you and your family.

I send my condolences to the family, friends, and Roane County Sheriff Department regarding the demise of Deputy Bill Jones. I pray that the other brother involved in this officer's death is brought to justice. Currently we are involved in massive manhunt for your killer, and we're going to do all we can to make sure he is brought into custody. Everyone that knew this officer should continue to remember his bravery, courage, and the legacy he left behind.
Deputy Jones your shift is over now, we will take it from here. Rest in peace, brother...

As a Mother of a Tennessee State Trooper, My heart goes out to the family of Deputy Jones. There is never a time that my son goes out on the road that I don.t worry about him. But the love for his job and knowing that he is making a difference is what gives him the courage to do what he knows that he needs to do. My prayers are with you and pray for my son and all other officers that are putting ther lives in the line of duty. Thanks, and Deputy Jones will never be forgotten for the good he has done and to the many that he has made a difference protecting over the years.

I am so sorry for the loss of Dep. Bill Jones and Mr. Mike Brown. Bill will be greatly missed! Never did I see him that he wasnt smiling or trying to make someone else laugh. Bill will always hold a special place in my heart. Some of my better memories from dispatch involved Bill. There was never a dull moment when he was around. Rest In Peace and know that you will never be forgotten!

Deputy Jones was the school patrol officer near our home for a long time. He always smiled and waved to everyone. He was often seen holding a small childs hand, smiling and talking as he took the child across the street to the waiting parent's car. We saw him there twice a day. He always enjoyed his work, whatever the assignment.

In Valor there is Hope. Rest In Peace.
Policeman's 23rd Psalm
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want,
His comforting hand reduces fear to naught;
He makes me walk through streets of crime,
But He gives me courage and peace of mind.
He leads me by still waters in the path I trod,
And He says in Romans I'm a "minister of God,"
He leads me in righteousness as He restores my soul,
For His name's sake He keeps me whole.
When I walk through death's valley, right up to the door,
I will fear no evil, for He comforts me more;
For Thou art with me every step of the way,
As thy rod and thy staff protect me each day.
He prepares a table, especially for me,
As I work daily among life's enemies;
He gives me authority to uphold the law,
And He anoints my position in the midst of it all.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me,
Each day of my life through eternity;
As I long to hear Him say, "Well done...,"
When I lay down my life, my badge, and my gun.

On Thursday May 11, 2006 I was ridding in my patrol car, wishing something would go down so I would have something to do. Not knowing at the same time you where smiling your last smile, telling your last joke, driving your last mile, or drinking your last cup of cold, stale coffee. But as the call went out over the radio that another brother in blue was down. A chill ran through my body knowing only 2 counties away a bother, my brother from the same mother known as lady justice was taking his last breath and nothing I could do but set and listen.
BLESSED ARE THE POOR IN SPIRIT,
FOR THEIR IS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.
BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO MOURN,
FOR THEY SHALL BE COMFORTED.
BLESSED ARE THE MEEK,
FOR THEY SHALL INHERIT THE EARTH.
BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO HUNGER AND THIRST FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS,
FOR THEY SHALL BE FILLED.
BLESSED ARE THE MERCIFUL,
FOR THEY SHALL OBTAIN MERCY.
BLESSED ARE THE PURE IN HEART,
FOR THEY SHALL SEE GOD.
BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS,
FOR THEY SHALL BE CALLED SONS OF GOD.
BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO ARE PERSECUTED FOR RIGHTOUSNESS' SAKE,
FOR THEIRS IS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.
REST NOW BROTHER, WE'LL TAKE THE WATCH FROM HERE!!!!
