Gary,
From our first days at the academy 16 years ago until the last time we spoke at the Awards Ceremony held at the F.O.P on 5-2-06 each time are paths crossed you always had a smile and we shared stories of days past. I can not express how your loss affects me and the countless others you have touched through out your career. I pray your soul is at peace and the Lord has gifted you with the grandest beat in heaven. Feel at ease that your loved ones will be cared for and will rejoin you one day in heaven. Goodbye my friend!

I knew Officer Skersi as a man who always spoke of his love for his family and this city. He was a good friend to our church in NE Phila and the police clergy. I thank God for his life and service. Our prayers go out to his family and all the officers who will be grieving his loss. May God's comfort be yours in the days ahead.

To his wife and children I am so sorry for your loss. I wish there was something that I could say to make the pain go away, so I will say this, know that your husband and father is a HERO and will always watch over you and keep you safe. To your brother officers, be there for each other.

There are really no words for me to find to express my sympathy to the Skerski family, espcially his children. He was a true hero. Lives were saved because of him and that's not something that can be said too often. He will forever be standing guard over his family to protect and guide. God Bless you and bring you peace.

My heart broke when I read about this in our local newspaper. My husband, Officer Michael H. Wise, II was killed in June 2004 and I still feel the pain. My heart goes out to Officer Skerski's family, friends and co-workers.

Gary,
Things aren't the same at my house without you around. You won't call for my dad anymore, as you have so often in the past 16 years. He's lost a brother and not only is he torn apart but so are my mother and I. I am so sorry this had to happen to you, you were such a wonderful man. You deserved to be around til the end until you and my dad were retired, trading stories at the barber shop and still meeting up now and again to catch up. You truly are a hero and now not only do those of us close to you know, but the whole city will know what a great loss this world has suffered now that you are gone.

Daughter of PPD Sgt.

One of ours went home with you today. Detective Vicky Armel of Fairfax County Police Department lost her life today, too. May the two of you walk with God and look down on us to keep us safe until we see you again. Peace be with your family.

To your family,
I am sorry for your loss. Gary was a fabulous community member. He read at the local school here in N.E. philly and will be remembered as a hero.
I can't imagine the pain you are feeling during this time, but I will pray that the person who committed this act of violence will be caught and justice shall be served!
My sincere prayers are with you!
