Well Gary, I became a father for the 2nd time in my life. Stevie's Little Brother Noah James Helvitson is here. He was born on 7/24/2009 and right now he's keeping me going. I remember when I took Stevie to the Station at the Christmas Party there at the 15th. You got the chance to see Stevie as a baby and now I know that you will be there looking down on us watching Noah grow up....We Love you and miss you..

Hey Gary, It's been 3 years since you were taken from all of us and I really can say that a day does not go by when Stevie starts talking about you. Now that Stevie's going to be a big Brother soon, I know that he will talk about you to his Little Brother Noah. We all miss you. Everytime Stevie starts talking about you, I start to cry because, You were always there for me when I learned that Leah was Killed on 9/11 and There was nothing that I could do to return the favor. I'm starting to tear up now because, It's heard to let go of a really good friend. We all miss you.

St. Michael's sword darts through the air
and touches the aureole on his hair
As he sees them stand saluting there,
His stalwart sons:
And Patrick, Brigid, Columkill
Rejoice that in veins of warriors still
The Gael's blood runs.
And up to Heaven's doorway floats,
From the wood called Rouge Bouquet,
A delicate cloud of bugle notes
That softly say:
"Farewell!
Farewell!
Comrades true, born anew, peace to you!
Your souls shall be where the heroes are
And your memory shine like the morning-star.
Brave and dear,
Shield us here.
Farewell!"

Hey Gary, Just got done another benefit at Cannstatters for Sgt. Patrick McDonald. That is the third benefit we had there. We came along way since we had yours there. Unfortunately, we have had too much practice. Dawn and I saw Ann down the shore at a survivors benefit. She looks well and everytime I told her a story about us, she smiled. Well pal, I thought I would just let you know that we have not forgot about you or your family. Rest in peace...... Your friend Ron

Officer Skerski,
I knew nothing of your death until last week. I was on vacation in Phladelphia. I took a taxi and the driver was wearing a jacket in your memory. I asked him about the story and now I will remember your sacrifice. Your story has become personal to me now. Rest in peace.

A MAN WHO AFFECTED MANY LIVES!

Police Officer Gary F. Skerski
IN LOVING MEMORY OF A MAN WHO AFFECTED MANY LIVES,
WE HONOR YOU
Tracy Mazzagatti & Family
This evening, on the anniversary of your death, yet another Philadelphia Police Officer will be laid to rest. The timing is absolutely ironic. What does it mean, how and when will it end?
I sit in soulful sadness as news broadcasts across every station; another Philadelphia Police Officer, gunned down in the line of duty.
Gary, I honor your memory. I pray for your wife, children and family as they must be suffering the same brokenness they felt two years ago tonight when you were robbed of your life. Gary, may God restore their hearts today on the 2nd Anniversary of your End of Watch.
Yo Gar! We miss your friendship, your support, our family misses being able to get hold of you in times of trouble for advice. I promise that you have never been far from our hearts and thoughts on a daily basis. Gibran said; "Remembrance is a form of meeting." We meet you in our hearts today and always.
In Your Honor I Pray,
God Bless Your Family

Hey Gary, Just a little note to say you are thought of everyday especially today on your anniversary and the 2nd birthday of my little AJ. I show him Uncle Gary's picture, all the time, the one of you and Annie from mine and Peter's wedding. A picture of you sits in our curio and one by our computer. Not a day goes by that we don't talk about you and all that you have done for our neighborhood. I know you have Chuck and Stephen under your wings now, please protect them as you know you do well. And tell mom and dad I said HI and I really miss you all - very much.

Gar,
On the eve of the two year anniversary of your being ripped from your family and friends I'm finaling going to leave a little note in here. I'm sure you won't mind the spelling. First off let me say I miss ya, if it was just talking(listening to war stories), laughing, working ot, or eating you were great to be around. OH yeah we would eat and I mean good stuff. Not only do I try to be the officer you were by tring to help everyone I can, I also try to be the friend and family guy you were. The city placed a plaque outside Pat's Cafe today so that everyone can remember you and what you gave that night. A lot of us from 5sqd at the time have moved on to other spots but everytime we see each other you can bet a Gary Skerski story is told. We all miss you. YOU AND YOUR FAMILY WE NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!
