Reflections for Detective Vicky Anne Owen Armel
I was running radar Monday afternoon when I received a call from a state trooper in Fredericksburg. He told me that a sniper was shooting at the Fairfax PD headquarters and some officers were down. I wished I could be there in some way to help. When he told me an officer was gone, I had to stop the car I was so heartsick. I'm still sick and disgusted when I think about it now, but I'm also so proud of the heroism you showed in coming to the aide of your fallen brother.
I never met you and only knew some FPD officers in passing, but your heroic sacrifice will always be remembered!

I recognize Vicky as a member of the force that has responded to my calls for service in the past. I was impressed by her calm and command of the scene during those incidents.
Personally I am saddened for Vicky and Vicky's family and will talk with Ashley Soloff of ways that I might help.
I secondly, want the whole department to know that we appreciate each and every police officer and the sacrafices that they have made to become and continue to be the keepers of the peace.

Police provide the community with the protection that allows individuals the security and freedom to engage in all endeavors to the betterment of the community. When a protector is taken the community loses a part of that freedom and security that can never be replaced. Your ultimate sacrifice will not be forgotten.
My sincere condolences to the family of Vicky Armel

My Sincere Thank YOU to this fallen Detective, but my HEARTFELT THANKS to all the Law Enforcement officers from the East Coast to the West Coast, for your service, dedication and help.
I didn't know Detective Armel, but my sympathy goes to her husband, children, other family, friends, co-workers, and all that knew and loved her.
We must all change, and remember to say "THANK YOU, and I appreciate you, and I love you to anyone that we admire and love, so that we won't have to tell them how we feel when they have died.
PEOPLE SUPPORT our Law Enforcement officers, and teach our children to honor and respect these wonderful Police Departments nationwide, that risk their lives to serve and protect us.
**Parents it is your job to monitor your children, to seek help when you see a change in behavior such as with the young man that shot and wounded and changed the lives of the Fairfax Police Dept. Our law enforcement depts. are working hard day and night to make our lives, and neighborhoods safe. Police officers risk and serve us directing traffic, responding to a call, or looking for missing person(s)and the list goes on.
So in Memory of Detective Armel, and ALL the fallen officers-the next time you see Law Enforcement--Let them know you appreciate them, and wish them a good day and pray non stop for their safety.
My thoughts and prayers are lifted to the other officer that was wounded, and I wish him a speedy recover.
In closing, Detective Armel, rest in peace, GOD has you on the "WINGS OF HIS LOVE NOW" and your living was not in vain. We shall never forget you. THANKS FOR A JOB WELL DONE!

May 8th, 2006 a HERO is taken from the Fairfax Co PD.
A HERO that sacrificed herself to save so many lives.
My heart breaks for your loved ones, both your immediate family and your police family. And especially for your children. It is so unfair that this happened in your back lot, your "home away from home".
God Bless you Detective Armel. You have earned your place in Heaven.

No greater love can someone have then to lay down their life for a friend. What makes police officers so special is our willingness to help those we know as in other Officers as well as those we don't know as in citizens at anytime. In her tragic death Vicky exemplified that courage and dedication. Words cannot express my sadness, admiration, and prayers for you and your family.

To the this Hero's husband and Children whenever you see a feather, please remember the following. It wrote it for all fallen officers in 2005 but it is much appropriate for the husband and little ones of Detective Armel:
FEATHERS FROM AN ANGEL
ARE ONE’S WE HARDLY SEE
BUT THESE ARE QUITE DIFFERENT
AND SPECIAL AS CAN BE
THESE FEATHERS ARE A REMINDER
OF A SPECIAL PERSON’S LOVE
WHO IS NOW YOUR GUARDIAN ANGEL
SERVING AND PROTECTING FROM ABOVE!!!

She protected us from day to day
So our families and children can safely play
Sacrificed her life with no despair
So we could be safe and go anywhere
No matter the trouble, that came along
This officer was always strong
Through the good and the bad
Fighting crime
She will always represent
THE THIN BLUE LINE
Let’s all stop and think
For those who sacrificed
And for each name engraved on the mighty wall of fate
Her ghost will walk the beat on each city street; you’ll find her at each rookie’s side, guiding them on that thin blue line!
God Bless the family and all should know that the fellow officers in blue will do what is necessary to help this family!!

May God bless you and keep you safe now Detective Armel.
May your family find comfort in the warmth of God. May your children always remember what a wonderful mother you were. I know the pain of loosing my mother when I was 6 and I pray that your children will remember the happy times, although sometimes that is not easy. I pray that they will keep your light shining bright and always keep you in their hearts for that is where memories live.
God bless all those around you, your family, friends and fellow officers.
