May God be with your family and friends and watch over them, for you are in our prayers.

My prayers and thoughts are with Tyler and Vicky's children.
"Angels In Blue"
I had this friend you see, who loved
God, Country, You and me.
My friend went to work day or night
the peace to keep, so you and I could sleep.
She worked the holidays and weekends,
away from family and friends.
To keep this peace for you and me.
Each day this friend put her life on the line
to spare yours and mine.
Then one day she paid the ultimate price, she gave her life.
You've done well my friend, patrolling these earthly streets.
Now it's time to walk on Heaven's beat.
The next time you see a Police Officer or two,
remember they are one of God's Angels in Blue.
And God said; "Blessed are the Peace Makers."

AWAY
-James Whitcomb Riley
I cannot say, and I will not say
That he is dead. He is just away!
With a cheery smile and a wave of the hand,
He had wandered into an unknown land.
And left us dreaming how very fair
It needs must be, since he lingers there.
And you-oh you, who the wildest yearn
For the old time step and the glad return-
Think of him faring on, as dear
In the love of There as the love of Here;
And loyal still, as he gave the blows
Of his warrior strength to his country's foes-
Mild and gentle, as he was brave,
When the sweetest love of his life he gave
To simple things; where the violets grew
Pure as the eyes they were likened to,
The touches of his hands have strayed
As reverently as his lips have prayed;
When the little brown thrush that harshly chirred
Was dear to him as the mocking-bird;
And he pitied as much as a man in pain
WA writing honey-bee wt with rain.
Think of him still as the same, I say;
He is not dead - he is just - away!

In Memory of Detective Vicky O. Armel
It truely saddens me to learn of such a tragedy. As a another female officer, I weep for you, your family, your department. I have lost a Sister in Blue. You are a Heroe in my eyes as everyone elses and even though we never met I will always remember the sacrifice that you gave. God be with your family, friends and your department as they struggle to understand this unfortunate incident. Your sacrifice has made me realize the uncertainty of our jobs and that we cannot take this life for granted. You my Sister have been chosen to walk the Streets of Gold. I will meet you someday. Until then watch over your family, friends and your brothers and sisters in blue. God bless you for your sacrifice. 10-42.
Weep Not For Me
For I have Seen
The streets of Gold
and grass so green
Here the sun shines so strong
And the clouds so few
For what I've seen
I wish you knew
I am with you
My Brothers and Sisters in Blue
So be Kind, loving and strong
And keep always true
Here I'll be forever more
Amongst the clouds
I've past through Heavens door
My friends and loved ones
Please understand
I am next to GOD
In his Promised Land...

Detective Armel,
I had the honor of attending your funeral at the McLean Bible Church last Saturday and I was moved by the outpouring of support from your co-workers, friends and especially from the residents of Fairfax County.
It is rare for a Law Enforcement Officer to ever get a "thank you" from a member of the community, but on that day I saw people stop their vehicles on the highway to honor your as the funeral procession passed. The community collectively thanked you for your years of hard work that kept them safe and for the ultimate sacrifice you made on May 8, 2006.
After talking with some of your co-workers, I have no doubt that you were an extraordinary human being and that your loss will forever be felt by everyone that knew you and by the residents of Fairfax County.
May God bless your family and watch over them always.

I did not know you,
But I know of you now.
I've heard you speak,
I've seen your smile.
I've wept for your loss,
I've prayed for your friends,
I've comforted your peers
And they have comforted me.
I've watched strangers bawl
At your flowered covered cruiser.
I've listened to the news
Every clip they've replayed.
I've felt helpless and lost
Still trying to make sense.
I've asked how and why,
But am resigned to just wonder.
I know time will heal me,
Your brothers and sisters,
But until such time -
I will continue to know you,
to see you, and hear you.
I will pray for your peers
As we comfort each other.
I will watch the blue ribbons
Adorn strangers cars.
I will search for answers,
Some kind of relief.
And I will always remember you
Long after my grief.

Rest In Peace M'am, I will always remember you as the kind, compassionate, upbeat, and professional individual you were. You were always willing to talk, and I'll never forget the time you talked with me about my ambitions to become a police officer and told me you'd see me out on the street someday.
