Reflections for Police Officer Gary Jonathan Buro

Hard to believe it's been 6 years already. Only know you for a short time but felt like I knew you forever. Rest in peace and I think about you often....you are sorely missed.

You are a hero, thank you for your sacrifice. We visited the page to remember our dear friend, Ryan Cappelletty. Your stories are so similar. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. May God wrap His arms around your family and provide continual care.

I was in Company 44 in the 2000 NYPD academy and Gary was I believe the Company Sgt for Company 43. I was next to him everyday in PT. He was just a great guy to be around during the 8 months @ the academy. He got me through a few runs and always had a smile on his face. I never saw him after we graduated the academy. I heard the horrible news shortly after he was killed and was thinking about him as of late. I just wanted to let the family know people out there are still thinking about him. He was without a doubt one of the good guys. RIP

Gary with you now is Trooper Mark D. Barrett, take care of him as he's a friend of mine. Mark and I worked together before he joined the call to duty of the Virgina State Police.

God bless you both as you are greatly missed but not forgotten.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your service to your Country and the Communities that you served throughout your life. I'm sure now you know just how many lives that you have touched.

It takes a special person to lay down his life to protect the lives of others, even those who you did not know.

Four years have gone by so quickly, but you are still thought of often, even by those who you did not know.
