Reflections for Police Officer Gary Jonathan Buro
Reality
Imagine how our world would be
If every police officer quit
Turned in their gun, turned in their badge,
Just finally had enough of it.
No respect, no loyalty,
No appreciation of all they do,
They’d give their lives for all of us,
These wonderful officers of “Blue”.
Kicked at, spit on,
Punched, stabbed and shot,
Everyday assaults on officers,
Done…without thinking a second thought!
Our laws are in favor of criminals,
There’s always some loophole in their case,
Out again to commit more crimes and murders
…creates pain, that we, the family and friends
…in time will never erase.
Why should they do it?
Why take the risk?
Why put their life on the line?
Subject their loved ones to endless suffering,
When their precious life is lost while fighting crime.
More murders, more kidnappings, more robberies and rapes,
Just to mention a few,
Please ask yourself how life would be,
If there were NO officers in Blue!
Would you do it? Could you do it?
And for how many…would YOU give it all?
Rewards are a 21 gun salute, a Medal of Honor,
And your name gets added to the Wall.
Think about it. Why are they here?
And why do some hate them so?
Because they enforce the laws that put convicts and murderers
In jail serving time, or on “Death Row”.
All give some and some give all,
It’s a risk they chose to take:
To put their heart and soul in it,
To put their lives at stake.
So, please take a moment,
Please give it deep thought,
Think of what “you can do”…
To help show respect,
To help follow the laws,
So we’d quit losing our Heroes in Blue!

As I think about what to write, I do not know where to begin. Officer Gary Buro was a great person. He was a great Officer. It was truly an honor to know and serve with him. The sacrifice he made was the ultimate, and I will never forget him. He is truly a hero.
It is important for us all to remember our time on earth is insignificant to the eternity of Gods love. Our time here is like a signle night in heaven. With that said, I will sleep tonight knowing that I will see you in the morning my brother Gary, I will see you in the morning.
God Bless you.

To the friends and family of Officer Buro I extend my deepest sympathy. None of our officers receive the appreciation or respect that they deserve. This officer laid his life down to protect and serve an ungrateful public. May his rewards be in Heaven where I know his wife was waiting. Godspeed and Godbless all of you that have chosen to serve and protect - I appreciate and am so thankful for every one of you.

We are saddened once again with the sad news of another hero taken from us. It is a great loss for the family and department during this crisis. We might not know the right words to say, or even know how to say them, but we can pray for your family and friends. May the Lord give them strength through this time.

Gary...it is an honor for me to say I had worked with you at the Lantana Police Department and we were friends. I am sad you were taken from us so quickly and violently but I hope that you and your late wife are now reunited.

Gary,
You truly were a great guy. Even though you experienced so much sadness in your life, you always managed to make everyone around you laugh. It seemed that you and our dear friend finally found joy with each other. I'm so sad for you two that your time together was cut short. Both of you deserved so much more. We will all look out for her and the rest of the Buro family. You've been a hero to all of us from J town for a long time and now the rest of the world knows it. I'm so sorry. We all miss and love you so much.

I did not get to know you, Gary, but you made a tremendous impression on my husband after only knowing you a couple of months. My husband had just met you in the pre-cert class and spoke of you very often. It hurt him to hear the news that night, as it did all of your friends and fellow officers. Now if we could only make sense out of something so senseless......
You will be greatly missed by my husband and the others in your class. It does, though, help me feel a little safer now knowing that such a wonderful person is watching over my husband and your fellow officers. Please keep them safe and returning home every night.
To Kathy and Gary's family : If there is anything we could do to make this any easier on you, please let us know. Our prayers are with you all and Gary's friends and fellow CCPD officers as we all struggle to get through this.
