Patrolman Jeremy Chambers #101,

You have made the ultimate sacrifice my friend. In doing so, you have reserved your place at the side of God. I am proud of you for all the accomplishments you have achieved. You made your parents proud, and what else could a son ask for. Chris and me have been close friends all of our adult lives, and it saddens me that you and I did not talk more often. In passing, we always had the "obligatory" conversation at the Cahokia QT while on duty, but more off duty conversations were missed and I regret that. So this I say to you....................., we will see each other again on a day not of my choosing, and I will fix that regret. For now, rest easy; you have earned an eternity of "down time".
We Have the Watch !

To the Chambers Family,

I am sorry Jeremy was taken from you so suddenly and tragically. Jeremy was an outstanding Son, Brother, Uncle, and Friend. I started riding with Earl in 1985 as a Cahokia Police Explorer; Jeremy had to be five or six years old. In the years since then, I have seen him grow from that boy, into a man. He never had doubt about his mission in life. He was, and still is, a true servant. My heart goes out to all of you in this........your greatest time of need. Diane, you have always been the "protector" of your children, I am witness to that. Know only that God was the only one who could take Jeremy from you, we all know you wouldn't have allowed anyone else to harm him.

I have always considered all of you as a part of my family. May God Bless You !

Trooper Jeffrey T. Snyder - Illinois State Police / District 11
(Formally Patrolman / Cahokia Police Department)

I borrowed this from the St. Clair County Memorial Website. I thought it fitting.

I never dreamed it would be me,
my name for all eternity,
recorded here at this hallowed place,
alas, my name, no more my face.
"In the line of duty" I hear them say;
my family now the price will pay,
my folded flag stained with tears;
we only had those few short years.
The badge no longer on my chest,
I sleep now in eternal rest;
my sword I pass to those behind,
and pray they keep this thought in mind;
I never dreamed it would be me,
and with heavy heart and bended knee;
I ask for all here from the past,
Dear God, let my name be the last.

We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of a loved one in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support. As we personally know, sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. Rely heavily on family, friends, and other law enforcement. Honor your fallen loved one, for their sacrifice will not be forgotten.
