I had left a reflection on this site in May when I first read of the circumstances surrounding the loss of this fine trooper.
I had no idea that when I attended the 2006 Survivors Weekend in Albany,(we just got back tonight)that I would meet your parents. In fact your Dad and Mom were kind in offering to let us follow them to the Academy for the candle lighting ceremony. When your name was read and your picture shown on the screen, your sister was rightfully proud to light your candle and I know you were equally proud of her for having just graduated from the police academy. Congratulations and Good Luck to her.
You must have been a wonderful young man because in the short time I was in your parents company you could feel their warmth and willingness to extend themselves...and apples do not fall far from the tree.
I pray that God will bless your parents as they cope with your loss; that He will watch over and protect your sister; and may your wife and child have an abundance of His graces and blessings.
May you rest in peace, for having made the ultimate sacrifice, knowing that you are loved, missed and will never be forgotten.
With my prayers for you and your family.

Hey 5060
Meant to tell you how amazing Lindsay was on the news graduating from the Syracuse Police Academy. Can you believe she is a cop!!!! She made it and I am sure your will helped her through.
I heard an amazing speech yesterday by Chris Arnold. His daughter Paige died in 1994 of leukemia and he described what his family went through. I thought about you during that and wanted to just drop you line to let you know I was thinking about you today.
Hope all is well in heaven. Talk to you again soon.

We had a nice gathering for Lindsay on graduation day. She was so happy and we were all very proud. The room missed you. It was like we expected you to walk in. Your grandfather kept us entertained about lawn mowing stories. We gave her a St. Michaels medal that watches over police officers and said she would wear it on her first day. She's a good girl Craig ... you would be so proud of her. She's alot like you ... determined and ready to follow her heart.

I have been reading this web site for sometime now and I just was not too sure what to write to you Craig. It sure is amazing to read all the things that people have written to you . I had only meet you once at the bombfire last year and you were so proud to say you could not have a drink because your wife was pregnant and home. I will never forget the day you passed on, it hit our house really hard as well. I believe our life has changed since April 23rd.
I happened to see the news last night and you would be so proud of your sister as she walked acrossed that stage yesterday.
Rest in peace Craig and please keep a eye on all the troopers at the station , they all need it.

Tods-
Do you remember that time we painted your bathroom on Markland? It was hysterical! We were laughing so hard in fact, that Brian and I tripped over that purple paint, and it landed on your moms oriental carpet; O was that ever a mess...We were so afraid to tell her! Those were good times. I think you might have still had the old jeep then...the blue monster...I remember how much you loved that jeep. I find myself remembering these times a lot lately. . I think it might be that fall is here. You loved fall...I think of that often when I catch a leaf changing, or smell that crispness in the air. I comfort myself in knowing that you are closer to the beauty of nature than you ever have been before. I just want you to know...that people here miss you and are thinking of you...even in the small moments.
Talk to you soon,

As every new recruit is told, working as a police officer is a dangerous and stressful career. The instructors often ask the recruits, "Is this job right for you" or "Can you handle the dangers of this profession?" Many of the young recruits dismiss the warnings without a second thought. Feeling as though they can conquer the world, the warnings that are given add no additional stress to the academy. However, for the Syracuse Police Department's 11th Recruit class, these warnings are not carelessly dismissed, especially for Recruit Todeschini.
On April 23, 2006 NYS Trooper Craig J. Todeschini was tragically killed in the line of duty when his patrol vehicle crashed during a high speed pursuit with a fleeing motorcyclist. Just 15 days later, Recruit Todeschini and the rest of her classmates were sworn in and began their indoctrination porcess. Recruit Todeschini faced the normal challenges placed on a recruit during the academy while also trying to grieve the loss of her brother. The dangers that were spoken about during the academy bore a heavy weight and seemed all too real. Recruit Todeschini may have lost her brother at the start of the academy, but she has gained twenty-nine different brothers and sisters who will look out and support her, along with the other five hundred members of the Syracuse Police Department.

I bumped into your mom today. I spoke with her for just a few short moments, as I walked away I was immediately struck with this sense of pride. I thought to myself how amazing a woman she is; the strength of her spirit. In the next breath I was thinking of you. You always carried so much of her in who you were. The pride I felt today was similar to the pride I would feel when we would discuss your future aspirations. I just wanted to let you know, you are in my heart everyday. I try everyday to be the best person that I can be, and I want you to know that you fuel me to aim high and to touch people's lives the way that you did. I miss you more that you'll ever know. God Bless you.

I want you to know that I think of you every day and am always thinkning about the 12 hours we spent together when I was able to ride with you in the patrol car during one of your shifts. That was one of the greatest days of my life that I will never forget. By now I think I have told everyone I know about that day. As I told you then and will say to you again, I was so impressed with how you did your job, especially handling the neighbor disputes we responded to that day. You were so professional and took charge of every situation while making me feel a part of the process.
I want you to know also how much it meant to me when you would stop by the house in your patrol car just to say hello. It was always so great to see you. Remember how I used to call you every time I drove down to Lafayette on Rt. 81 on my way to Ithaca to see if you were able to meet me for coffee? I still have your cell phone number in my cell phone and still dial it when I drive through there.
Kristi just told me about this page so I am sorry I have not written to you sooner. I promise to keep you posted on any new developments. I spoke to Jeff Brown's chief of staff today and was told that "Craig's Law" will be officially signed by the Governor in the next few days. The Felony Pursuit Law is a law that should have been passed long ago but with the tremendous effort by your Mom, Dad, and Kristi, along with help from many people in Albany, they got it done.
I listen to "Hear You Me" every day and rememeber your brilliant smile. Your heart really was 'so big' and as sure as I am sitting here now I am sure that the 'Angels Lead You In'.
Miss You.

For all those who were a part of Craigs life, I know as I am sure (if you were close to him) would too, he would be very upset over anyone not living their lives to the fullest and being happy. We should not mourn because of the days we do not have with him, but rejoice in the time we did! We will all cherish the wonderful memories we have of Craig but we must gather, as his friends and loved ones, to support and help all his family move on and find peace in their hearts and happiness rejoicing his life not saddened by his loss!

Its crazy to see it being almost 5 months since you 've been gone. We think about you all the time. We didn't let your dad's b-day go by without making a cake and reminding him all day long! Both your parents miss you more every day but they are doing a good job together. We should all be so lucky to have a relationship like theirs and to have the strength they do. But as the days go by, you are still here in many little ways to remind us of the special person you are.

Craig, I just found out about this site yesterday, but as you already know, my heart is heavy with your loss. I will forever remember your warm smile. I remember you as a new recruit at our station. I remember working with you down at Operation Impact and our meal breaks at the Steak & Sundae. I'm so proud to have known and worked with you. You will never be forgotten; rest in peace, brother. My heart goes out to your family, and I'm not sure why, but especially to your mom. God bless you.
