The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

Though our lives drifted apart as we grew older, I privately celebrated your "Officer of the Year" award in 2004. I am deeply saddened and angered by the events of April 21,2006.
I am moreso, however, proud of your actions to shield another person from harm. You have made the ultimate sacrifice as a police officer.
I will fondly remember our lives crossing for brief moments at the grocery store. You would always take the time to stop and talk to me and we would catch up as best we could in those hurried times. For that, I thank you.
As you know, I have an 11 year old son. He has talked about becoming a police officer for some time now. He especially talks about joining S.W.A.T. All I can say is that if and when he does, I hope that he is half the police officer you were. You were a great asset to this community and you will be deeply missed.
You are a hero and will always be remembered. May God be with your family in their time of need and may God rest your soul.

It is with a heavy heart I write this. I had the priveledge of working with Scott. He exemplified the highest standards of Police Work. He was a man that put his heart and soul into his job. I will always appreciate the the times he assisted me and the other members of the K9 Unit. We will have a void in the unit that can't be filled.

I also had the priveldge of working with his father and riding with his dad during my FTO period several years ago. It is evident where he got his ethics, skills and passion for the job.

Rest high on the mountain Scott "little fish" "sev"
You will alway remain in our hearts and thoughts.

Our hearts are sadden again to learn the news of another police officer has lost his life. The members and the staff here at the Chauffeur Internet Radio want to send our deepest sympathy's and condolences to the family, and sisters and brothers in law enforcement, of Scott.
The following is a Fallen Officer's Prayer that was found while a Pueblo Police Officer visited the N.Y.P.D. Museum & Ground Zero in 2005 Officer's Prayer
Fallen Officer’s Prayer
I Never Dreamed It Would Be Me.
My Name For All Eternity.
Recorded Here At This Hallowed Place.
Alas, My Name, No More My Face.
'In The Line of Duty' I Hear Them Say.
My Family Now The Price To Pay.
My Folded Flag Stained With Their
Tears.
We Only Had Those Few Short Years.
The Badge No Longer On My Chest.
I Sleep Now In Eternal Rest.
My Sword I Pass To Those Behind And
Pray They Keep This Thought In Mind.
I Never Dreamed It Would Be Me.
And With A Heavy Heart And Bended
Knee, I Ask For All Here From The
Past...
Dear God, Let My Name Be The Last.
God Bless You All

My heart just breaks for all of you. I am praying for comfort and peace for Cpl. Severns family, friends and fellow officers. God bless all you you.

April 24, 2006

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Cpl Severns, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.

Then the rainstorm came, over me
And I felt my spirit break
I had lost all of my, belief you see
And realized my mistake
But time through a prayer, to me
And all around me became still

I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name

Through the rainstorm came sanctuary
And I felt my spirit fly
I had found all of my reality
I realize what it takes

'Cause I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name

Oh I, don't bet (don't bend), don't break (don't break)
Show me how to live and promise me you won't forsake
'Cause love can help me know my name

Well I try to say there's nothing wrong
But inside I felt me lying all along
But the message here was plain to see
Believe me

'Cause I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name

Oh I, don't bet (don't bend), don't break (don't break)
Show me how to live and promise me you won't forsake
'Cause love can help me know my name

Love can help me know my name.

We are saddened once again with the sad news of another hero taken from us. It is a great loss for the family and department during this crisis. We might not know the right words to say, or even know how to say them, but we can pray for your family and friends. May the Lord give them strength through this time.
