Reflections for Corporal Scott Lee Severns

"Well done. Thou good and faithful servant. Come in to the joy of the Lord"

The Bible says " NO GREATER LOVE IS THIS, THAN TO LAY DOWN YOUR LIFE FOR ANOTHER". We didnt know Scott personally, but we feel the loss of this HERO. Our prayers, and thoughts go out to his family, friends and fellow officers. We are thankful, to have had such a man among us. His life is an inspiration to us all and he will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. May Jesus, send his peace that is beyond understanding, and may you feel his love for Scott and your family. God Bless you all.

2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Even though he has finished the race for the short time he was here, we cannot begin to comprehend the heavenly plan that God has for Scott. I feel better knowing that this blue angel of ours is on our side.

Every other night I would go to the 7-11 after my shift to grab a drink and would see Scott Severns taking his break. One night i remember I had got out of my car and was approached by this man i didn't know....just asking for directions. Scott saw me from the inside and casually came to the front of the store just to make sure i was ok. He never once spoke a word to me but i knew he was watching out for me. I turned around and there he was standing at the window....like a guardian angel...now you are an angel. Since his death i havent went one day without thinking about him. May God Bless him and his family. Too young and too soon...from my family to yours Scott....you will truely be missed. You are a true hero.

Scott, I want to express my honor at being one of the two officers to lead your procession today. I hope we made you proud and you know that you are loved. The sky today was a clear blue one so I know you had a good view of all those who came to show you the respect you earned last week and throughout your all too short career. I couldn't help by think at the cemetery today that the weather had to be a sign from you that everything was OK and that you were safe in the arms of God and that you wanted us to know that.
Al Delinski was right, we don't tell those we care about how much they mean to us, we think they already know. Al, you did Scott proud with your words today. I have no doubt that he heard everything and knows just how much he will be missed.

Rest in peace Sev-Dog.

We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of a loved one in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support. As we personally know, sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. Rely heavily on family, friends, and other law enforcement. Honor your fallen loved one, for their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Scott, I listened to my advisors talk about your funeral today, the amount of respect and admiration they have for an officer they have never met is inspiring. The more I learn about your time as a police officer strengthens my want to become an officer and follow in the footsteps of officers like you.

You will never be forgotten.

My thoughts and prayers are with Scott Severns family and friends. I did not know him, but I was deeply touched by his passing. Watching everything unfold on tv and listening to B100 radio station. I was very moved when officers from SBPD were reflecting on Scott's life and the fun they all had shared with him. God Bless You ALL....

If we could have a lifetime wish,
A dream that would come true,
We'd pray to God with all our hearts...
For yesterday and you.
A thousand words
can't bring you back,
We know because we've tried.
And neither will a million tears,
We know because we've cried.
You left behind our broken hearts,
And happy memories too...
But we never wanted memories,
We only wanted YOU.

Its unfortunate that a tradegy like this has to happen, but it certainly brings the true reality to us- and we realize that any death from violence is needless. But we thank Scott and his fellow officers for protecting us-even when their lives are at stake. Scott is a true hero. Heros will always be missed.

When people say "Why make all this fuss over a fallen cop, when people are killed every day?" it bothers me to my core. Every day that I wake up, every day that I'm not robbed, shot, raped or killed, everyday that these things don't hppen to my loved ones, is a day that I am thankful to the thin blue line. There is now one less on that line. It could have easily been someone who I know very well receiving the 10-42, but it wasn't. That doesn't make it any easier to hear. These men and women do a thankless job, day in and day out, and it's high time, this unfortunate (and that is the mother of all understatements) incident notwithstanding, that there be a day set aside to show our appreciation to that all important thin blue line.

" . . . and a river of light shall bear the fallen hero into the everloving arms of the Prince of Peace."

Requiem in Pacem Cpl. Severns, your work here is done. Godspeed

I didn't know Scott but I am aware of the job he was hired to do: "To Serve and Protect". As a Mishawaka grocery retail manager, I often have to respond to a latenight alarm call alone. Most of the time officers are notified to me meet at my business. Even if it is a false alarm--officers still respond and are polite and I am really glad to see them. I lost a childhood friend that use to respond to alarm calls (Tom Roberts). They are now together doing what they know best--still protecting... only with wings on now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My thoughts are with you and your family. Michelle Robbins
