We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of a loved one in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support. As we personally know, sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. Rely heavily on family, friends, and other law enforcement. Honor your fallen loved one, for their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Officer/Captain Tuttle: What a hero you are to serve your community BOTH as a firefighter AND a police officer!!! That you and Chief Sumner were willing to take such risks shows us that you both GAVE your lives in the line of duty to protect your citizens (and of course the officers in the foot pursuit) I pray your families will find comfort in that you both died loving your jobs and saving your community. How blessed we are to have had protectors like you.
God will ease the grief of your families and you will be in Heaven awaiting the arrival of your loved ones some day.
Men and women of both Departments: Remember your heroes every day. Thank you all for the work you do.
You are loved, appreciated and respected,

“REMEMBER ME”
Law enforcement officers are, indeed, a special breed of people. Ask anyone on the street and they will tell you that they would not have our jobs for anything in the world. It takes something special to do what we do and at the same time be able to even contemplate retirement. We try to be optimists. Unfortunately, there are a few of us who will never make that date with retirement. By the very nature of our job, we are at risk everyday of losing our lives, either at the hand of some deranged individual or in some other situation that we, by virtue of our occupation, may be unable to avoid. Some people have recognized the hazardous duties we involve ourselves in, the risks we take, and the pride we take in accomplishing that job. There is National Law Enforcement Week, dedicated to us who gladly accept the responsibility of protecting the citizens in our respective jurisdictions. National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day is dedicated to those who gave their lives in the line of duty. These are but two examples of remembrances specifically for law enforcement personnel. Remembrances that come but once a year. We should remind fellow officers of another type of remembrance, one that will last a lifetime. Sooner or later, a doctor will pronounce us dead. It is inevitable. Regardless of whatever happens, death is the end we will all have to face.

My most heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and fellow officers of Officer Tuttle. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
To his wife: I share your agony. I lost my husband in the line of duty in March of last year and am left to raise 2 young children on my own. This is a very painful journey that none of us expected - or wanted - to take. I have found comfort in knowing that we do not walk this path alone but with many others who have endured similar losses. The first days, weeks and months are so painfully difficult - just try to do the best you can. Take one day at a time. Let others hold you up when you can't stand on your own. Please know that you will get through this. Though you may not believe it right now, the pain in your heart will soften with time. I will be thinking of and praying for you.
Thank you, Officer Tuttle, for your service and ultimate sacrifice. May God bless you and may you rest in eternal peace, safe in the arms of the angels.
